1/31 - 2/2 W/E
Checked in at HRH 8:30 pm, had the $99 Pool view AP rate. The CD you get now is of the hotels' 1st Anniversary Party, recorded "Live, by the pool" last year (Jam session with Pat Travers, Leslie West, Ronnie Hammond, Mike Reno, & a few others). Wish we'd gone to this now! Best CD yet.
Room 5150 at very end of hall, away from Beach Club. Quick to the parks tho (just had to use stairs down 5 floors 1st).
Fri. dive-in movie was Groundhog Day. Coulda bet on that one this week-end. Watched the ending and then off to bed.
Sat.am went straight to MIB (Express had to do pre-show also, drag); then BTTF & Twister, before heading to IOA. Rode Hulk & Spidey and then ate lunch at Burger Digs. Afterwards rode JPRA for 1st in a long time (new lap bars are minus the fluffy cushions, wonder why?). *Big doors working; new skins on little guys before Stegasaurs; Hadrosaurs out to lunch. We were back row... stayed good & dry.
Went on Flying Unicorn next (another hadn't done in awhile). It's a neat little thrill, but it did seem a little slower than it used to be. We were really missin' those Dragons this week-end! Most attendants we talked to said they'd be open on 2/8. Just gotta go back during Mardi Gras!
Grabbed oreo cheesecake slices from Croissant Bakery and headed back to room for downtime. We'd not heard of the Shuttle tragedy until this time. Really saddened for those families' losses. We just let DD put the channel on cartoons and we snacked & napped to forget.
The milk & cookies were delivered next. They go quite well as a dessert after cheesecake.
Back to IOA at sunset for rides on Hulk & Doom. Dinner at HRC (yes, noisy from people & music... but we were in the mood).
Sun. am: Slept in (got the breakfast card filled out and hung on door before the 2 am deadline). Rarely do we do any room service anywhere, as it's usually a waste of money. But this was much needed today, and it was a very nice service. Very worthwhile.
After check-out and sending bags to car, got over to IOA for a few Hulk & Spidey rides about 11:30 am. Had promised DD some arcade time at USF too, so hit MIB & Jaws while there.
Crowds were small: Sat. waits were 20 mins at most (funny how Express makes 20 mins look severe though), Sun. weather was the nicest & some crowds were takin' advantage.
Great time of year to visit. But we say that all thru the year anyway.
There's always a positive in being there for us.
Can't wait for Mardi Gras!
