HRH Rate now cheaper - can I change?

Hi All,
I booked (direct through Universal, no tickets included) a garden view room at the HRH for 7 nights, August 22-29th, 2008. At the time of booking (Oct 07), the AAA rate I got was $195 plus tax. I checked the Universal website tonight and there is a supersaver rate of $183 (although there also appeared to be another supersaver room of the same type for $195, not sure what the difference is?).

I havent called to see if the AAA rate is lower than I paid, can I change the booking to the lower rate without penalty?, and is it likely that the AAA rate will be cheaper? iS there any downside to the supersaver rate as opposed to AAA rate (I am Loews Blue).

Any help, gratefully appreciated.

Michael

Hi Michael,

There's no penalty for having a lower rate applied to a reservation. I have done it in the past. Just call and request to be switched to the lower rate.

As for the difference in the two supersaver prices, were they for the same day of the week? Friday/ Saturday stays are usually $10 to $20 dollars higher than any other day of the week. The length of stay will also affect the supersaver price. Longer stays result in a bigger discount.

The only downside is that I don't think that the supersaver price qualifies for a Loewsfirst qualifying stay while the AAA price does.

Hi,

When I booked my supersaver rate, I asked and the reservationist assured me it qualified. :confused3

That's good to hear, especially since I'm a Loewsfirst member currently booked at a Supersaver rate. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for all the replies, look like I should be able to drop the rate by at least $12 per night which will effectively pay for the parking!.

Is there anyway I can check the AAA rate without ringing them up?, without being cynical :) are they likely to tell me whether the rate has dropped if they know I have already booked?

Thanks again Michael

Hmmm, I have just checked the supersaver rate and as I have said there appears to be two with exactly the same decriptions, I am now wondering whether the cheaper rate could in fact be for a restricted view room?, the AAA rate appears to be the same as when I booked (checked on AAA website).

where do u find these super saver rates???

Two ways, either through Universalorlando.com or Loewshotels.com. Requesting a booking at the PBH, HRH or RPR from either of these websites, should take you to the same booking website. If the supersaver rate is available, it should show up as an option. There's a limited amount of rooms available for this rate at each hotel, and the rate varies depending upon length of stay.
