Hi all,

My first post! We are arriving at the HRH on February 8th. We want to go swimming at the hotel pool but know it can been cool this time of the year. Has anyone tried swimming at the pool in the winter? How warm is the water?
:cold:

Thanks!

The pools are heated. This will be my first trip to a Universal resort but I've been in other Orlando area pools in the winter and the water is pretty warm. A couple years ago when we went in Feb. it was warm enough during the day to be comfortable getting out, but the evenings were cooler and would warrant a nice big towel or bath robe upon exiting the pool.

We've been down in December twice. One time, we were at Pop Century. The heated pool there was fine, even at night when the temperatures dropped into the 50s. However, a different time we stayed off site in December. The day time air temperatures were comfortably in the 70s. However, the pool was not heated (even though it was advertised as heated) and the water was absolutely freezing! The HRH pool is huge and must cost a fortune to heat. We are hoping that Loews does not try to save a few bucks by turning down the pool's temperature in February. Does anyone have first-hand experience at the HRH?

I would think it would be ok cause Lowes is a good chain plus everything I have heard about the resorts at universal I don't think they keep off the heat in the pool to save a few bucks cause they want to keep up the same level of service during off peak seasons as they would during peak seasons to keep buisness.

sorry haven't stayed at that time of year just 1 night in August. wanted to say if you really want to swim you will be disappointed. we spent the rest of our hols in a villa with it's own small pool. and i was looking forward to a good long swim but the pool is only 3ft something deep throughout.

Fine for a splash about though

If that is the case then all three resorts encourage pool hopping and sure one of the hotels pools are deeper than that and pretty sure they all are heated.
I can't swim so 3ft would be fine for me lol:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I read somewhere that the pools are 4' 7" at the deepest point. Not good for diving, but fine for splashing around and little swims.

we just spent time swimming on NYE. it was very warm and lovely. I have plenty of pictures if you like !

Hi Judy,

Thanks for the reply! Was it warm at night? (I would think it might have been warmer in the pool then on deck at night!).

I should clarify, we spent NYE day swimming, we spent the night in US. The water was warmer than outside on the pool deck even then.
