I have reservations at HRH for January 05. However, I have been reading some not so great things about HRH on this site. Should I switch to RPR? My DH is in the military and will be coming home from overseas and I want this to be special and not have any hassles. I would appreciate your opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have stayed at both and personally prefer the HRH. That is just my personal preference, the RPR is gorgeous, just a little boring for me, and the rooms are smaller than HRH. But, if you are just two people the RPR should be fine.

I would just look at pictures of both and decide which you like the look of better. The HRH has been getting some bad reviews, but I still love it!

i also vote for the HRH. and besides, if you havent seen your hubby in a while everything is special.

We are staying at the RPR this November for a few days. I've stayed at the HRH 2 years ago and thought the room was gorgeous. It has big, fluffy comforters and pillows and a really cool atmosphere. BUT, after 5 days of commendo style WDW, I was looking for some relaxation. I didn't find it at HRH. They keep the pool music blasting until 12:00 am...even when it was way too cold to swim. Too loud to sleep. We even ate at the Hard Rock Cafe! Also loud, loud, loud. Fun atmosphere, great sandwiches....but again not relaxing. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I'm trying RPR, so that when we are back from the parks, we will hopefully have a place to relax!

Good luck
Kathy

I have stayed at both resorts numerous times. You will have fun at either, but I prefer the HRH. The rooms are bigger and lighter. The bedding is wonderful. If you plan to go to the parks it is MUCH closer (a short walk). I do enjoy Emeril's new restuarant at the RPR the best , though.

A very romantic thing to do at the HRH is to rent a cabana and lounge around the pool. I never noticed the noise (but I have three kids so I am oblivious to noise) We rent a cabana, enjoy lunch by the pool, etc. The HRH cabana's are much nicer than the RPR's.

My husband retired after 26 years in the USMC and I totally feel for you! I hope you have a wonderful reunion! Thank your husband for all of us!!!

Thank you all for your replies, I think I will keep the reservations at the HRH!

I am trying the HRH for the first time next week and am really excited! I read the bad reviews, but until I stay, I will make my own judgements.

Thanks for all the great info!

Last time in Florida we stayed at the HRH for 14 nights. It was wonderful - we especially liked the **music** for breakfast and the feel that you are entering "concert zone" as soon as you enter to check in!! The rock memorabilia on display is also as you guys put it "awesome"!!
We're staying for the first time at RPR and are looking forward to a different theme. We had a lovely week in Oahu on Waikiki Beach and experienced being lei'd and luaus once and are hoping the RPR is something a bit like that. We'll see!!:D

I have stayed at both and prefer the HRH. It felt a little more luxurious, was a better location, and just felt cooler to us. My kids (and us) like the slide there.

Selina-I hope you have better luck, but when I was at the RP, I did NOT get lei'd. That's what I get for not booking a room for the kids.
