We are staying onsite for the first time, leaving in less than 2 weeks. We picked the HRH because we thought the teens would like it the most. I am reading a lot of posts complaining about the HR. Please reassure me that it is a nice hotel and we shouldnt have any problems. We did not get any discounts and expect to be treated well.

I've never had any problems with the resort. It's my favorite by far and I would choose it over any of the 3 Disney monorail resorts in a second.

They'll love it. Don't worry. If you have any issues, make sure you get them resolved and don't take no for an answer.

My three teenage 15 yr old girls and I stayed there last year and they loved it! They especially liked the public phone area where lots of groups had used the phone...they thought it was neat to take a pic of themselves "with" the star so to speak, touching the same phone, this was were pics of more "current" stars were. They thought it was funny when I got all excited about the Mick Jagger photo in our room...they didn't know who he was:laughing:

.....much of the atmosphere etc is "Hard Rock" and they aren't really into that but they still really liked it...they have a great coffee/ice cream shop right were you come in from boat and we enjoyed it very much, the other restaurants were a little pricey for us .....we found the staff wonderful and the rooms were very nice...pool with music was cool...only thing we didn't like was the pool wasn't very deep!

The location can't be beat! You can walk back to your room in 5 minutes...but most times we took the boat 'cause our feet hurt and it was enjoyable....

Thanks for all the responses. I feel much better. I guess you can have a good or bad experience anywhere. You just have to get lucky and not let the little things bother you.

my teens loved it. My only disappointment was that the pool wasn't deep enough for a proper swim

The Hard Rock is a nice hotel. We had problems when we went, mostly with the room but other than that, it was a nice hotel. I liked the atmosphere and the ice cream shop. I wasn't crazy about the pool but overall it's a nice hotel. I think most teenagers would rather stay there than the other two.

I was concerned about bad reviews before my 1st stay in December but I kept my reservations there. From the moment I arrived to the time that I left I experienced the best customer service I have ever received at any hotel or resort anywhere, believe me I am not that easy to impress. The 1st day I checked in I was so impressed with the every employee I encountered (about 5 different people)I wish I could have remembered there names so I could have talked to management about their excellent customer service. I know people have had bad experiences there but there are also some people like myself who really enjoyed our visit . Please give HRH a try and decide for yourself!!!!!:)

OP: I thought the same thing before our trip (June '06). It was hard to find someone to say something positive - all I read were negative reviews. We went anyway and WOW - had a blast. My son was 11 and LOVED it. Even though my DH and I are "old fogies" we liked it as well. I have no complaints about the hotel or the service.

Go and enjoy.:cool1:

We love the HRH  . We are returning to the HRH this year for my DD sweet 16. I am taking her , my friend and one of DD friends . We stayed at the HRH in 2006 and had no issues . We are now returning to the hotel but upgrading to club level. WE can't wait to go and I am sure your teens will love it.

I also have a funny story we walked in the room and I screamed BRUCE !!! Our room had a big picture of Bruce Springsteen and well it was great :thumbsup2 . My kids don't really know who he is either .:rotfl:

OP - didn't mean to hijack the thread

Mary, we can talk about the trip and meeting up maybe over on the SAN2 thread :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We stayed there last summer and loved it. The only problem we had were with the guests allowing their children to run in the hallways yelling at 2am. We called the front desk after 2 nights of this, and it stopped.

I've stayed their numerous times and have always had a great experience.

However, be aware that HRH is an extremely popular hotel with very high occupancy rates. With the volume they do, there's no way to avoid the occasional misstep, like the hotel getting overbooked.

One person came here to complain that when HRH was overbooked they sent them to the Peabody Hotel for free! That's a great deal, as the Peabody is considered the luxury hotel in Orlando. In short, Loews goes tyhe extra mile to do the right thing, but you just can't please everyone.

From what I have experienced and read on these threads, more people complain than give accollades when deserved. I have been to HRH twice and loved every minute I was there. We had an issue with the bathroom once (the faucet knob in the bathtub fell off) and it seemed they were knocking on our door as soon as we called the front desk! Go and see for yourself, you won't regret it. HTH :thumbsup2 ;)
