We were at the HRH 5 nights, including the fourth of July. It was our first stay at a Universal hotel and we greatly loved the atmosphere of the hotel and the convenience of staying so close to the parks and City Walk. Some observations:

Obviously, you can adjust your room temperature to whatever you want, but all the common areas of the hotel were air conditioned to 69 degrees while we were there. If you find that chilly you might want to bring a sweater.

My two teenage children loved the pool area. Bring a volleyball from home if you want to make instant friends. (The volleyball they had was flat.) Every night teens would greet my kids as they arrived with our ball and then play til midnight.

We moved the furniture close to the window away from said window and had plenty of room for a twin aerobed there.

apropos of nothing...every night there were teenage girls who came in taxis, dressed and made-up to the nines, and parked themselves in the lobby giggling and taking pictures of themselves..and waiting for celebrity guests, maybe? There was much commenting on their attire and presence by regular family guests. I was sort of surprised that the hotel tolerated the continual presence of the teens...although the bell staff seemed to really enjoy talking with them. Maybe this is in keeping with their image as a 'rock' hotel?

We would go again in a minute. In fact when my daughter graduates from high school in three years, she wants a trip back for graduation.

That's a hoot about the teen girls coming by taxi at night. Wonder where they came from? We never noticed that on our trip, but, we were never in the lobby area after 9 PMish (with a 6 year old who was usually so exhausted she was asleep by then.....or still swimming). Hmmmmm....wonder what that was really all about.

The only time we've seen dressed up people was at a grad party many years ago.

I'd love to know what was going on too!

We love the HRH, never experienced the giggly girls, but we did love the rock n roll atmosphere. Glad you enjoyed your stay!!

Are you sure they weren't "that" type of girl... like you see in the Vegas hotels, if you know what I mean? ;)
