I read this on MouseSavers this morning:

"Something useful to know: if you stay ONE night at a Universal hotel, you can actually get TWO days of Express Ride Access. That's because you can check into your hotel as early as 7:00 am on the first day and collect your room key, which you can take into the park and begin using right away. (Your room almost certainly won't be ready that early, but the front desk will store your luggage and you can call or come back in the afternoon and get your room number.)"

I was wondering... are we ok to drive over and park at the resort? I didn't realize that you could check in that early & they would just hold your luggage. I'm assuming that they will give you a parking tag & all that jazz? This will save us an extra night of having to stay.

You can park at the resort whenever you check in even if it is at 7 am. You will still only be charged one night's parking.

So parking isn't free even if you are staying at the resort?

No. You get charged to park. There is very limited parking at the hotels. It is $17/night.

If you park at the hotels, you do not need to drive to the parks and park. Everything is walkable or you take the shuttle if you don't want to walk.

I guess I'm just spoiled by Disney. Thanks!

The good thing about Universal is that if you don't bring a car you don't get charged. Disney just hides all those fees and everyone pays.

Disney's prices for its Deluxe hotels that are within walking distance of the parks are much higher than what Universal charges. Plus you get unlimited express access.

You won't think you are so spoiled by Disney after you experience that, lol.
