Ive booked 2 nights (3 rooms) at HRH for next October. :goodvibes

How do the discounts work for Universal Hotels. We have booked through Dreams Unlimited and our room is currently a rack rate.

Do Universal do discounts for just 2 nights? What happens if a reduced rate becomes available for my stay, will Dreams Unlimited just amend the reservation for me?

Sorry for all the Questions, but we are doing a really big trip next year as its my grandparents Golden Wedding Anniversary so every penny i can save helps :lmao:

The best rates I have always found are direct, once they start discounting.

For October 2011 we are paying $274 a night Rack, but will be paying at least a $100 less a night by then.

Not sure how Dreams Unlimited works. If you see a discounted rate, make sure you let them know. Normally, when people book themselves, they just call the reservation line and have the rate adjusted. Hopefully Dreams will do that for you but I would imagine you will need to inform them that the rate has changed.

Where would one find the dsicounted rate? Are they posted here on DIS once they come out? (planning a few nights in August 2011)

If you are an AAA member, they will give you that discount on the phone. We are booked for next Aug. for two connecting rooms at HRH and since the AAA discounts just came out I called and they adjusted my rate. I will now keep a watch for any others to come out that would beat the AAA discount and will call to adjust. If you go through a TA you may have to have the TA do any calling since they may still "own" the reservation until you go.

Can you wait until you arrive and ask for the booking to be priced at AAA rate or would you have to do this before you arrive. We are booking 3 nights at HRH for July and was just going to book it through Universals own website then wait until we get there to ask to get the AAA rate.

From what I have been told in the past, there are only so many rooms (much like Disney) allocated for AAA discount. We have always applied it when making the reservation so we wouldn't miss out. I called Universal directly for our reservations next Aug. and they applied the discount for us. If something better comes along I will call and try to get that if it is available. You maybe taking a chance waiting until check-in as the AAA rooms by be gone and they may not be able to apply it to your room.

Thanks for the info. Can you be kind and help me with these questions.

How much do you get off for the AAA rate and how do you find out when a better rate comes along.

Sorry Laura for hijacking your thread.

Not exactly sure but I think its 10% at least. I went onto the Universal site and got their pricing and then I went into the AAA website and got their pricing with the discount. I then called Universal and asked for the AAA pricing and they gave me the exact amount. As far as other discounts, keep checking the Universal site and these boards are a great place to find out whats out there.
