Hi, I apologize if this is a commonly asked question (I didn't see it on the first 3 pages). We are planning a quick family Disney trip next month and won't have time to visit the Universal theme parks but we would really like the chance to pick up some Harry Potter merchandise. Is there a shop outside the theme parks where we could go without entering the actual parks? We won't have much time to shop at the airport so we were really hoping there'd be a store that was sort of the equivalent of the Disney store in Downtown Disney. I'm having trouble figuring out this info on the Universal website. Can anyone help?

No need to apologize questions are always welcome here. Someone will always jump in to help you ::yes::

I'am not sure what they offer at MCO, but there is a big Universal store in CityWalk which is located outside the parks if you have not been. They carry a lot of the popular Potter products, wands, robes, sorting hats, pins, glasses, cups etc. You would have to pay for parking if everyone wanted to go in and shop. Might be nice to park and have a nice lunch at one of the great restaurants in CityWalk (maybe Toothesome Chocolate Emporium) then shop at the Universal store for your Potter products. You will enjoy it.

You can also order items off Universal website.

There are two Universal shops at MCO, both with pretty large HP selection. Would save time to spend 10 minutes extra there vs driving to city walk

If you're pressed for time, you could just go to one of the resort gift shops. I am only familiar with Cabana Bay, and they have a relatively small but nice cross-section of HP stuff. You could park for free in the check-in area--I'm sure they would not mind if you were only there 15-20 minutes.

Thanks for the replies! My husband will be at a convention for a few days of the trip and we'll be at a hotel near the convention centre so it looks like it would be worth our while for me to take a cab over to Universal with the kids for a few hours one day even if we're not doing the parks. I can't wait to see them go crazy when they see all the Harry Potter stuff. (Now if only my youngest would hurry up and grow past 48 inches so we could plan a parks trip. I promised him we wouldn't go until he could do all the rides but we're a tiny family and it's taking forever!)

That sounds like a great plan! The Universal Studios merchandise store in City Walk is large and has a very good selection. City Walk is a great area to walk around and has a nice selection of restaurants.
