A few questions about our restaraunt selections.

Sunday
Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic Package

Monday
Rose and Crown..... we couldn't get a reservation at Le Cellier (our first pick) AT ALL?!? Is it that popular...we are 100 days from our trip and already booked... was this a glitch? I mean NOOOO availability and everywhere else has something ever 5 or 10 minutes.

Tuesday
50's Prime Time Cafe...our party is two adults 26 and 23. Will we feel odd at this family restaurant??

Wednesday
Tony's... been there, know what to expect.

Thursday
Boma... Will a picky eater survive??

Friday
Whispering Canyon Lunch (as part of the back stage magic tour)
Grand Floridian Cafe ... really.. I can't find ANYTHING on this restaurant... anyone think we should or should not go here... we are open to anything around MK this night.

Saturday
Cap'n Jack's

Sunday
Donald Safari Breakfast at Tusker House

Are any of these choices going to be crammed. We will absolutely not eat at the Coral Reef again because there was literally 7 inches between our table and the one directly beside us!

Any input appreciated.

I will comment on only those we have eaten at. We do NOT like Hollywood & Vine at all--did it twice for Fantasmic. We had terrible service, "Old Country Buffet Food" when there was ample food put out, food was lukewarm and the place was filthy. The only good thing about it was the desserts. We have not done Prime Time in a while, but I do not think you will "feel odd" at your age...you'll have a blast. We love Tony's for lunch (dinner is only so-so in our books). We are trying Whispering Canyon Cafe for the first time this year so can't comment on it. Have never eaten at any restaurant at Grand Floridian (my DH does not like the resort at all); never ate at Captain Jack's or Tusker House (we always do the Crystal Palace for character breakfast). Yes, LeCellier is that popular and very hard to get a ressie. I would suggest you keep calling back every day because there are always cancellations. However, we also love Rose & Crown and are doing both on our trip in September.

We loved Hollywood and Vine. Everything was clean and piping hot.

You won't feel different at 50's PT. Don't worry.

Look at the menus, if you want to go to a restaurant don't let other people change your mind. Once you go there, you'll know if you like it or not.

Agreed...you should check the menu and see what you think of it. I wouldn't take what people say on these boards too seriously...everyone has their own opinion. Unfortunately, we made the mistake last year of listening to reviews and chose a restaurant that we absolutely disliked and will never go to again.

if you are set on Le Cellier.......keep trying and maybe someone will drop it and you can get in......I too enjoyed Hollywood and Vine and we had a great experience with four adults

just posted this on another thread too... i find it odd about Lecellier did you try for just dinner??? I was able to get get lunch about 80 days out no problem at all??? Dinner i've been calling about every day almost trying to change but no luck and the we are going the weekend before easter so kinda very busy time of year.

Picky eater should be OK at Bome, send them to the kid's area in the middle of the buffet to start.

I really want to try GFC, we traded it in for a meal at Coral Reef last summer, but I hope to book it next time. It was out of commission for a while last year: 1900 Park Fare used the space for its character meals while the 1900 space was being renovated. That may be part of the cause of a thin batch of reviews.

Resevered Le Cellier President's week 187 days out and had to settle for 7:20 Yes it's that crazy.
Boma has something for everybody and more. You will love it.
Rose & Crown was great for watching Illuminations and the food was quite good.
Have fun!

Rob

Le Cellier only has like 12 tables, which is why it books up. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but it is really small. Dinner is always harder. I had to book for lunch on our next "last minute" trip (68 days away -- 72 when I booked my ADRs).

The others all sound great. I have heard fabulous things about the GFC. Picky eater will be fine at Boma. They have mac&cheese. :-)

We hated Hollywood & Vine....rude staff, they screwed up my bill, food was just yuck!
WCC - hated it as well.....again rude waitress, always yelling, dont like their antics, food also not that great.
I haven't eaten at the others you mentioned but we liked Kona's and Ohana's, what about Crystal Palace?

We love the Grand Floridian Cafe! :thumbsup2 It's one of the places we try to eat at on every trip. I can't say the same for Cap'n Jack's -- I had heard good things, but for us it was just average food and a bit below average service.

Thanks for the replies. I think we'll stick with Hollywood & Vine despite the reviews because we've never eaten there. I am still concerned about how close the tables are at these places. Like I said in my OP, we literally ate with another family at Coral Reef because of the tightness of the tables. Will that happen at any of my selections? Thanks.

BTW, noticed the comments on Crystal Palace (been there our last three trips and are giving Pooh and friends a break) and O'hana's....My DW will not eat there because she imagines Pineapples on everything and everywhere around us.:confused3 :rotfl:

Thanks.

you adrs are great!

i hope you are eating at rose and crown before illuminations..you will have an excellent view of it. and dont stress if they sit you inside, your waitor and waitress will escort you to the patio right before illumination starts.

Kevin on the Disunplugged podcast just did review about Tony's ..I would listen to it to make a clear decision about it. I think Kevin is pretty dead on with the dining reviews. It seems he gave Tony a big thumbs down. Here is the review

Boma is awesome....we even found stuff for our little ones to eat.

I know you said you are set on Hollywood and Vine but we think it is terrible. The food isn't very good and the place is crazy. Our last trip we went to mama melrose for our fantasmic package and it was actually delicious.

Sorry about Le Cellier, it really is that good that it gets booked.

Whispering Canyon is delic and alot of fun.

Never eaten at the others you mentioned.

Have a great trip.

I've been trying to Le Cellier and no luck...calling for about 2 months now..still nothing...
