Hi. Just wanted to see if anyone nearby has an idea of what the air is like today. I had planned on taking my 2 1/2 yr. old today but was leaning towards postponing due to the fires. Coming from Ventura County, so not a big deal to postpone, but nevertheless my kid of course really wants to go. Thanks for any help or updates.

I'm about 5 miles away from DLR right now.

You can smell smoke in the air, but it is not heavy and dark. I would always be cautious with a 2 1/2 year old. They are more sensitive to irritants in the air than adults.

I would wait to take a toddler, for the very young, elderly or for those that have respiratory issues, I would not recommend being outside for any longer than necessary.

Welcome to the Dis!! I'm in Ventura County too, Oxnard! :flower3:

I've been checking the hojo mattercam off and on throughout the day and saw blue skies until just a little while ago. Now it's dark and hazy.

Air quality is unhealthy, but if you're not doing anything strenuous, you should be okay. The sky is smoky, but it's light and not nearly as nasty as the past couple days (I'm looking from Anaheim to Long Beach right now). Most of the fires are something like 40% contained, so the firefighters are finally getting a handle on things. :thumbsup2

i'm from ventura county too. 20 years in thousand oaks, 1 in simi valley, now in camarillo

We arrived at DL yesterday (Sunday) and the sky was very smoky, and visibility was very poor.
Today we woke up to clear blue sunny skies! It was quite lovely all day. You could see a bit of haze in the air, but really, we never noticed anything out of the ordinary!

My friend in Chino Hills went yesterday and said the sky was brown but no smell of smoke. She said it was a great day at the park and the crowds were really low!!
