We origionally were planning on going in May, that's always the best time for me because it's not to hot, and theres hardly any crowds. But my cousin's wedding (which I'm in) is May 21, and we were "planning" on leaving on May 20 for a week in Disney. Obviously we can't do that and with my job I am limited on when during the month I can go. So we are probably going to make it some time around the third week in June. (A months difference.) How are the crowds during this time? And the weather?

Any ideas????

We went last June... Very hot, very crowded.

My first trip to WDW was in June of 1980. The two things I remember very well? The heat and the crowds.

But I still had a lot of fun both times.

We're in the same boat, my nephew is getting married on May21, so we'll leave May 26. We've been to DW 3 times before in June and the crowds are manageable with fastpasses and some thought. It will be hot, but we always take a break, go to the pool then shower and head for an early dinner. That way we bet the crowds to the restaurants and we have room for dessert or a snack later. It works for us!!

We went the first week in June this year and had terrible weather! Thunderstorms EVERY day. Crowds were worse than we've seen before. That being said, you have to go when you can and just know that yes, there will be crowds and probably showers each afternoon. Plan accordingly and have a great time!

That sounds good. I was thinking of leaving May 22 and getting there May 23. ( We are driving). I'm not sure how that will work though, because we will be at a wedding reception the whole night before!! I don't know. The weather won't bother me to much in June, but I think the crowds will. thanks for the advice though!!

We were there June 13- 20, 2004. It was hot and crowded. Thank God there was an e-night! We were able to ride all the e-night rides a few times so we didnt worry about them during the day. My kids kept begging to go back to the hotel to swim. We hit the parks in the early morning and evening. We were able to do all we wanted and more. We all had a great time! This time Ill make priority seating reservations for everyday around 3:00 or 4:00. It almost cost the same as going to counter service. The food is great and you get good pictures with a lot of characters you wont have to wait in line to see later! Not to mention the AC!!!

We will never go in June again! It was the worst time ever, it was very, very hot, and crowded. The worst thing is we were there for 7 days and it rained and thunderstormed very hard everyday that we were there. It was terrible, we would go to the park and have to leave early after only being there for an hour or two before it started raining. We waited a ton of money because we were not able to enjoy it do to the rain and heat. We went in early March and loved it, from now on Feb-May is the only time we will travel there.

Hi! May 25-June 1 here and I CAN'T WAIT!!! I went in early May in 2003 and it was wonderful but unusually HOT. I am not worried about rain...that's what ponchos, umbrellas, and indoor shows/rides are for!!! It will be super fun, no matter what the weather brings. Crowds can be managed as well...I'd much rather be hot and in a crowd at WDW than at home! :cheer2:

May is so much better.

We've been in June twice. The first time was in 2001 or 2002 (can't remember which). It rained every day for 8 straight days...not typical Florida showers but drenching rain, all day.

We went this year in June. Oh my, it was hot as hades. The difference in humidity between May and June was extreme and the crowds were much larger. We chose June rather than May this year because we were taking a family member, but in the future I'll choose any other time to go. I can deal with crowds OR heat, but the two combined about killed me.

When I was a child, we always went in June, July or Aug. If I had to pick out of those 3 summer months, I would pick June. We only went in the summer, so we didn't think it was that crowded b/c we didn't have anything to compare it to.

But I can see you've been to WDW in the off season (Oct., Feb.) so the summer crowds and heat might be a little overwhelming at first. Take advantage of the evening extra magic hours for sure.

Some good things about the summer months is that the parks are open very late, you know it will be warm enough to swim, and just about every ride will be operating (less rehabs). Have fun!

Now I'm really confused. I can't go in May. My mom and siblings live in Clearwater, and I always spend a couple days with them before heading to Disney. I would already have to cut my trip short a couple days because of the wedding, so I just wouldn't have enough time to do everything I want to do.

The next available date would be June 17 - 26. Judging from your posts, it looks like I will probalby have a miserable time because of the heat, rain, and crowds. Yes, it is better to be at WDW than at home, but how much fun would it be to deal with all that on VACATION??? May is the PERFECT time to go, but it's too bad I can't do that.

So now I'm thinking of maybe just going back to my origional plans a couple months ago, which was to do Disney and Universal Studios in October. I just REALLY don't want to wait that long!!!!

I don't know if the hurricanes that happened this year will keep kids in the south in school longer to make up the days. This might keep the crowds in the first part of june low.

We usually can only go to Disney in June due to DH teaching, but I can honestly say that we have never had a miserable time in Disney even in June. Never. We have had rain, heat, humidity, etc, but not a bad time. We leave in the afternoon when the crowds pick up and the heat is bad. We go back to our room and shower, swim, relax and eat. Then we still have hours left at the the park in the evening. The late hours in the summer are really nice. The new extended hours next year for resort guests will also help out. 3 extra hours at a park with no extra money to pay sounds great. We are taking our kids June 8th to 15th. We can't wait.

We have gone the last 4 years in the off season and loved it so much. Before that we were there over July 4th and I said never again! This year we are going the 1st week of June because DS cannot be taken out of school anymore. Too much make up work and missed class time. I am not sure how magical it will be but I am willing to try summer one more time. If you can travel in the off season I would go then, even if it will mean waiting longer. It won't be too long before your son will not be able to go in the slow season, so I say enjoy it now while you can!

Stevemed, don't count on the hurricanes dealying school too much. We are in Miami and school will finish on June 1st in Miami-Dade county. All the hurricanes happened either during summer vacation or weekends. Only 1 day of school was missed at our county.

Here in Palm Beach County the kids missed 12 school days due to the hurricanes, they missed more in St. Lucie and other counties hit even harder. In Palm Beach county most of the days are being made up by going to school on other holidays and previously scheduled half days, the last day of school was only extended by 1 day,it is Tuesday May,31.
We were in Disney last year the first week of June and it wasn't great. We have no problem with the crowds, all our previous trips were Spring Break, but the heat was bad and we are South Floridians. We also had alot of rain, which was almost a relief while in the parks, because it cooled things off,but no fun when we wanted to hang out at the pool.

We were there that first weekend(June 5), it was the end of Gay Week. The MK was extremely crowded, and in anticipation of that the resort hotels had flyers in the room reminding you that it was early entry that day (Saturday) at MGM. We found the crowds to be for the most part very courteous and experienced no problems riding the rides, thanks mainly to Fastpass. Temperatures were warm but there was no rain. We were at the Contemporary and took full advantage of WDW transportation.

OK, kids and I have to go in June. Should we go the 11th through 25th or 18th through 2nd of July.....I know it's hot and it will be crowded but have no choice in months.

If the summer months are the only times available to your family for a visit, then the earlier the better, I think. Heat/crowds/rain-humidity will always be factors in the summer. Your tolerance level to these factors should determine what's best for you and your family. I will say that if you're not used to these conditions, then you will probably be very sensitive to them and should plan accordingly to minimize discomfort (lots of water, sunscreen and early touring plans).

My family and I spent the week prior to Christmas at WDW last year and thought it would be extrememly crowded. We were pleasantly surprised and it turned out to be probably our most memorable and fun trip ever. It was not nearly as bad as I imagined but on the other hand, we also planned for extreme crowds and created an itinerary around that factor (like touring MK earlier in the week in case it was too crowded later, also touring early in the morning, and getting PS's lined up so we weren't wandering from restaurant to restaurant trying to get fed).

We will be joining the summer hordes immediately after school is out. It will be a first for us as a family and I'm getting myself mentally prepared for the endless chants of 'it's hot' from my children. I'll have to get creative with this itinerary to avoid the meltdowns!
