The menu sounds great, but I know first hand that doesn't necessarily mean anything lol. I'm debating whether or not to try Boatwrights since we are staying at POR or just head over to RR at DS. I also thought about hitting Ohana twice(we are going there before MNSSHP on another night, it's my favorite). I can't decide what to do! How does Boatrights measure up to the other restaurants?

I've always had excellent dining experiences at Boatwright's and kind of feel like it's a hidden gem at WDW. I had dinner there just a couple of weeks ago and both the food and service were on point. I always find the restaurant to be extremely quiet; I assume not a lot of people go out of their way to visit POR? In any case, I encourage you to give it a try!

We went to Boatwrights when we stayed at POR June 2016. We went the day a Tropical Storm was coming through. It was load for us and pretty busy. We had to wait a while even though we had a reservation. I full suspect it was do to the storm though and not the norm. Our waitress was awesome and the food was really good. You should give it a try.

Boatwrights is one of our favorite places at WDW. Very much a hidden gem IMO. Particularly since you're staying at POR, I'd suggest giving it a try.

The pimento cheese fritters with jalapeno jelly are a killer appetizer, the prime rib is excellent and the pork chop is fantastic.

We ate here during our most recent trip this past March and were pleasantly suprised.

I don't know if I'd go out of my way to eat here but I think it's definately worth a try if you're staying at POR.

Can someone tell me some specific foods that are good there? DH has always wanted to go because he loves creole cooking, and the Étouffée, Jambalaya, Catfish all appeal to him. Me, not sp much. Other than those 3, what's good for a non-creole fan?

Thank you! And yes, for the day I'm looking at, I'll definitely want quiet. It will be after a long day at TL! :goodvibes

Two words...Prime Rib
Yes, that's definitely one of the entrees I'm looking at :cloud9:

Yummy, that's what I was considering for an appetizer! I love most anything with pimento cheese:lovestruc

That's what I'm thinking....since we will probably be tired from a day at TL!

Not sure if the menu is the same but they have the best cheese plate I've ever had in my life. When we went last year it was our favorite meal of the trip. Not sure if the menu is the same but My husband had some sort of steak with mac and cheese and I had some sort of pork with spoon bread. It all was to die for. I was raving about the cheese plate for a year after wondering why restaurants around here cant make a cheese plate like that :)

We've eaten there when staying at Port Orleans. We've had the catfish, ribs, jambalaya, etouffe and chicken with waffles (no longer on the menu, looks like they have chicken and dumplings now). Our favourite part of the meal was the cornbread to start. The entrees were good but not great, most people were happy with their entrees but nobody raved about them. Prices are pretty reasonable for Disney and the restaurant is convenient if you're staying at POR. I wouldn't make an effort to eat there if I was staying at another resort, and if we return to POR I think I would be more likely to take the boat to Disney Springs and try something new.

Fantastic, their mac and cheese that comes wih the steak should be available alone as a separate meal it is that good. Very chilled out and relaxed spot which is quite nice sometimes in the world to escape the busy stuff.

I love good Mac and cheese! And the day I'm considering is going to be on our water park day. Which for some may be a relaxing time, but not so much for me :rotfl2:My son will have me on every water slide numerous times....and it's usually an all day affair:faint: So, I'm thinking I will want quiet, chill, and easy to get back to our room.

I enjoyed it when I stayed at POR (2011 and 2013), but it's not a restaurant I would go out of my way to visit, not even when I stayed at POFQ (though that was more because I was on a solo trip and did more QS). I would also keep in mind you have the boat down to Disney Springs and that opens up a whole variety of options. However, after a busy day at one of the water parks, I can understand the need to a quiet, relaxing meal and evening. If anything, hopefully you can catch Yee Haw Bob!

I definitely want to try and see Yee Haw Bob! I've never had the chance, and everyone seems to love him. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Last time I ate there, I had the "Louisiana Lugger," which is a sweet tea-brined pork chop. It was yummy and definitely not Creole! I've also had their prime rib a few times and it's always been delicious. I swear, their mashed potatoes are the stuff of buttery, carb-filled dreams. :)

Thanks! That was exactly what I was thinking about, the "Louisianna Lugger", and I was wondering how it was. Also, there's some BBQ meal.

Thanks for posting this. We are booked there during our trip because we thought the menu looks fab. Glad people are liking it!
