Hi Everyone,

(I'm a bit of a babbler, forgive the length of this introduction!)

I'm new to these boards, but in a couple of days of browsing them I've already seen what a vibrant and helpful community it is around here!

I'm a big fan of planning vacations (well, and going on vacations as well!), and so I'm currently putting together a vacation for myself, my wife, my best friend, and his fiance.

We're all either 27 or 28 years old, and we'll probably be travelling to WDW for 5 or 6 nights near the end of September. I feel like our age group doesn't really fit into any of the other forums around here (too old for college, too young for "adults"? :) )

Anyway, I'm trying to put together a trip heavy on the fun with a fair dash of romance thrown in. I'm also budget conscious, and while I have fond memories of staying at the Polynesian many years ago when growing up with my family, I don't think we'll be staying at any of the deluxe resorts this time around.

So, I guess I'm looking for suggestions on what hotels, restaurants, and nighttime activities (hah) are appropriate for our age group... so much of the information seems to be geared towards either families, teenagers, or couples older than us that it's hard to get an idea where we'd fit in best (hotel-wise) and what sorts of other activities (other than the standard theme parks) we'd want to consider.

Also -- if one of the other forums around here is more appropriate for this sort of fishing expedition, please point me on my way :-)

thanks for any advice!

Lee

you would be fine on the adult boards.... or college for that matter.

that say

I would suggest either SSR studio for PI easy access

or BWV studio for BW easy access

both are great for night life!!!

you can rent a reservations from a DVC member to make it work with your budget.

otherwise I would suggest Pop Century (value resort). You are old enough to appreciate some of the stuff there....

Welcome! :wave2: You'll fit in just fine on the adult boards, there are many posters who are just like you.

My suggestion would be the Moderate resort Port Orleans French Quarter, (POFQ) I think it is romantic, with the sidewalk along the river and the bike rentals and boat ride to Downtown Disney & Pleasure Island. (PI) is a FAB place for adults w/o children!! :thumbsup2 THere is SO much to do there I would suggest the comedy club it is great fun! :cool1: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
I also enjoy sight seeing all of the Mod & Deluxe resorts this is great b/c 1). it's FREE
2). can be very romantic at night. (especially if you take to fairy or the boat rides to get to these resorts  )

GOOD LUCK and ENJOY!

I'm turning 25 in two weeks and planning a first trip for just my DH and I. We're staying at POFQ. I originally booked POR, but began to panic over it being too big :rotfl: I've talked to many couples that did disney for their honeymoon, and they stayed at DVC resorts (you can buy points relatively cheap). They all recommended the boardwalk at night, adventurers club, and the comedy club. I think you'll be able to find a lot of advice on the adult board (I know I have), as well as from reading trip reports. And if you're really a fan of planning, I recommend tour guide Mike too. I think that whatever you end up planning will be great, because you're in WDW!

POFQ is very nice, as others have posted, small in size, just a short walk to anyhing in the resort. 1 bus stop. First on and first off the bus. It will go to POR but the trip to anywhere is not very long. The boat to DTD and to POR is great and very nice. We ate at Whispering Canyon 1 night and road the bus to MK then took the boat to the restaurant. This was really nice as there were ducks on the water and the sun was setting, beautiful from a boat on the water. The peacefulness of POFQ around the walkways, all have nice garden areas and there is a bar Scat Cats with jazz music. Since POFQ and POR are sister resort you are free to use the amenities over there. Boatwrights is a good restaurant at POR and the club over there is good as well. POR is just quite a bit larger and spread out. You can rent a horse carriage at POR, get reservations for this. You can boat over there or walk about 10 minutes. Ithink this would be a nice resort for the 4 of you. Here is the sticky thread from this board on POFQ. It is New Orleans style and oh yes the Beignets are wonderful too. :sunny: Rooms were just refurbished last year and there is a privacy curtin in the vanity area for dressing etc. Refrigerator is free, coffee (good) not Nescafe and hairdryer, iron and board. The beds are double size but very comfortable. If you get 2 rooms you can ask for a King bed.

thanks to everyone for the advice! I'll definitely look into POFQ and I'll point myself over to the adult board to do some more reading and to ask any more specific questions I might come up with...

thanks!

I'm 25, will be 26 this year. DH is 27, will be 28 this year. We've been to WDW several times together over the years both by ourselves, with the fam, and on a trip with my twin sister and her boyfriend.

You guys HAVE to check out Jellyrolls. You'll LOVE it! We really enjoy it there. It's a bar on The Boardwalk. It's a dueling piano/sing-along bar, So much fun!
So, that's something you can do for fun other than the Theme parks and downtown Disney.
Another fun thing my husband and I enjoyed doing when we were on our honeymoon is "bar hop" around world showcase. It's really fun strolling thru the countires and drinking while doing so. You get a little tipsy towards the end but that's the perfect time to walk to the Boardwalk to Jellyrolls (via the International Gateway) for some more drinks and more fun. But don't go to Jellyrolls till after you see Illuminations at Epcot. Actually, you may even be at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival. That's really fun. My sister and I went last September 30th-you just walk around the countries and sample all different kinds of wine/beer/food from all different countries for $1 or $2 a pop.
Pop Century is a great hotel and VERY affordable (we paid $65/nt including a discount for using our AAA card).
As far as activities- there's a Horse Carriage ride (romantic) that you can take at either Fort Wilderness or Port Orleans and they welcome you to bring your own bottle of champagne and glasses if you want a little drink. Also, they have parasailing and other fun water activities.
And my favorite restaurant in all of WDW? CAlifornia Grill, thanks to it's excellent cuisine and flawless view of MK. But bring lots of $$$, it's not the cheapest meal you'll ever have.
WOW! Talk about babbling! Look how long this got!
