Just read that Fox has been in talks with Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell on American Idol! I love Simon and for me he makes the show. I hate to see him leave and felt I wouldn't watch the show anymore once he left. I just feel it is so hard to find the right replacement for him. But, I think Howard Stern would be perfect! I actually hope he will do it. I just feel bad for the poor kids who have to audition in front of him!:scared1: Sometimes he is a bit too honest!;)

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

See, I heard the opposite. I heard that Stern was talking about it on his show and that he wanted to do it and that he wanted 100 million. Then I heard Fox or whomever say "he doesn't fit the demographics or isn't right for the show" or something like that.

I never heard anything about him being in talks. I would really hope that AI is not that stupid. I for one, and i'm sure there are many others, would never watch that show again. He is a foul mouthed idiot who doesn't have a clue about the music industry. Not exactly the right person to judge to singing contest. Well, unless they were all wearing bathing suits or nude, then i'm sure he would fit right in. :rotfl:

My opinion is that Stern would be a horrible choice. I don't think he's got a broad-based appeal and American Idol would lose a lot of viewers unless Stern seriously cleaned up his act and was able to SUSTAIN that behavior. There's a considerable "ick" factor going on there.

At this moment, all I can think of is him interviewing naked women in his radio show studio. Not gonna be able to ask a female Idol contestant to show him her hooters.

I love Howard, but he would be a terrible replacement for Cowell.

Simon can be a jerk, but he knows music. Howard knows strippers and porn. Can you imagine how the "judging" would go?

I love American Idol and would hate to see Howard Stern replace anyone. I am not a fan of his and I can only imagine the type of people who would show up to the auditions if he were there.

I cannot stand Howard Stern and will not be tuning in if he replaces Simon. They really need someone who knows music to replace him.

I can't imagine Howard Stern on American Idol. :scared1: What a sleaze!

TC:cool1:

The only thing great about Howard Sten is his team (Richard, Sal, Fred, Artie). Howard, by himself, is a man lost at sea.

I know Howard Stern is the kind of person you either love or hate. So, I totally get why a lot of people would not want him as a judge on American Idol. What I don't get is the argument that he isn't qualified or they need someone who knows music. If that were true then someone please tell me why the heck Ellen is now a judge?:confused3 I do like her, but for the life of me I don't know what music industry experience she brings to the table other than the fact that she likes to listen and dance to it. Howard has been in broadcast radio for many years so one could argue he is more qualified than Ellen in that aspect.

Can't stand Stern, and can't stand Ellen either so if we have to put up with both of them next year I just may stop watching.

If Simon leaves, let the judging go back to 3 like it used to be. Don't bring anyone new in to "replace" Simon.

Howard Stern is disgusting. I wouldn't trust him to judge the women on the show by using their talent and not their cup size. What a sleeze bag.

I am not looking forward to Ellen being a judge either. I love her show; but dont think she should be a judge. I dont watch Idol for the comedy. I cant believe they could not find someone more qualified to judge. Were there no "hasbeens" looking for a job?

I listen to Howard and here is what I heard: a week or so ago a caller called in and gushed about how Howard should replace Simon. Howard essentially laughed it off. Later that day the guy who does the 'Howard News" came on and said "People are suggesting that Howard Stern take over Simon's chair on American Idol'.

Over the next few days callers would repeat the statement of "Howard, you would be great on AI". At times Howard and Robin would laugh about it, and also talk about other names that have been floated about.

This morning (9th) Howard again talked about how rumors have surfaced that Fox is going to offer Howard 100 million. Howard said that he has not been contacted by Fox, and did not expect them to, but he did joke that for 100 million, for four months work a year, he would do it.

Just a great example of a joke by a caller to a radio show turning into 'news'.

Howard Stern on the show would be the end of my watching AI.

Wasn't Howard Stern the "architect" of that stupid "Vote for the Worst" thing that got Sanjaya so far along despite there being SO many more talented singers?

I can't believe for an instant that Fox would even consider HS as an Idol judge!

Personally, I don't think Ellen has done anything, musically, that "qualifies" her to be a judge; but she's certainly going to be funnier (intentionally) than the semi-coherent Paula Abdul. Paula was great in the 80's, and on the first couple seasons of AI; but for the last couple of seasons I think she's been having "medication problems"....

Howard Stern replacing Simon ???:rotfl2: I guess it would get people talking about AI but it doesn't seem like a good fit to me. :confused3

Too all the people who said they wouldn't watch ,I have a feeling you all would. Just to see how he'll do,just like all the people who said they don't listen him on the radio. Most of his ratings come from people who claim they dont listen. If you never listen to his show, then you cant judge him. Mother 42yrs of 3 kids. I listen all the time he'd not as sleazy as some think.:goodvibes

This sounds like the most reasonable, logical explanation of it all....
I'm sure Howard is loving all the buzz it's creating around him and has absolutely no intentions of ever wanting to fill in for Simon. JMO.
