Hi everybody, does anyone have any comments (+/-)
on the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, right near DL?

Any info would be helpful - I got a rate of 79/night for a Fri/Sat night. Is it easy walking distance to the entrance of DL/CA for healthy adults/kids?

Thanks!

Dan

We stay at the HoJo's pretty frequently because it is clean, quiet and well-priced. It is an easy walk to the park - about 5 minutes. They also have free internet access in every room - so if you have a laptop with an ethernet connection and want/need to stay wired through your trip... this is a great way. They also just built a mini water park for the kids on property, which is pretty fun. Rooms have microwaves and mini refrigerators as well as small coffee makers. They give you two free bottles of water and snacks every day - which helps in saving a little bit of money in the park. We love this place and hope you enjoy your time there, too!

Thanks for the reply!

So you really don't need to use the trolley/shuttle from HoJo's?

Do you think 79/night for a Fri/Sat in March is a good rate?

Looking forward to our trip!

Thank you for your interest in our hotel! The walk is not bad from the hotel to the parks. If you find that you are too tired to walk back from the park you can purchase an ART pass from the kiosk near the shuttle area.

Do you have a AAA or Entertainment card? Also, don't forget to email us at guest.care.team@hojoanaheim.com to ask for the discussion board member special rates and upgrades!

I have stayed at many of the places around Disneyland and , aside from the Disney properties, HoJo is my Favorite because the walk is easy. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the buildins have interior corridors and most rooms have balconies, something most of the close accomodations to Disneyland don't have. Almost all the other places are motels with exterior corridors.

We stayed at Hojo's last July and really enjoyed it. The hotel is very nice and the service is great....what I would consider 'Disney level" service. I really believe the manager modeled their service after Disney.

It is a bit longer walk than i would have liked, but oh well. I'll walk for that hotel!

We never, ever took the shuttle, and our kids were 6, 8 and 11, so no strollers or anything, either.

I highly recommend it

Julia M.,

Thanks for the info. Almost across the board, sounds like a really nice place to stay. How long would you say it took your family to walk to the entrance to DL or DCA? I've heard anything from 5 minutes to "longer than we would have liked". We have a 7 YO DD, but we're all in good shape, so walking isn't a problem. I just would like to get a feel for how long it takes to walk so I know how early we need to get up!:sunny:

In my 6 stayes at HoJo it usually takes 5-8 minutes to walk to the front entrance of the parks. There are motels closer than Hojo that make it a 3-5 minute walk. For some people the 2-4 minutes apparently makes a difference. We just stayed at the Park Place Inn and I had 3 people with some mobility issues and this was of help to them to be as close as possible.

After a full day in the parks, walking to the front gates is further than I would like and my loving husband refuses to carry me. Heheh

We stayed at the HoJo's a few weeks ago and the walk less than 10 minutes every time. It's a nice walk and well lit at night.

We like the HoJo's and if you use the email address above you might be able to get a room upgrade and/or a discount. They really give a good deal to us web board members.

If you are interested, there is a resturant across the street that is very nice and has great food, Mimi's. We ate there and I had a Salmon Dinner (salad, salmon, fresh veggies, baked potato) for 13.00 Kids meals are 4.00 or so and include desert and drink. We had two kids meals, one adult meal, two glasses of wine and cheesecake for desert and it was about 30.00. They also have great breads and muffins for breakfast. You can order food for take out. The walk was less than 2 minutes from the hotel.

I really appreciate everyone's input! HoJo's seems to get excellent reviews across the board. Good advertising for them via this discussion board ain't it? Looking forward to our brief sojourn to DL for the first time!

Thanks again y'all:)

Dan
