Has anyone stayed at the Howard Johnson near Disneyland? I'm thinking about staying there, and I was wondering if anyone has anything particularly good or bad to say about it.

Thanks!!

Hojo gets generally positive reviews--it is a bit farther away from some of the other "good neighbor" hotels, but it's a do-able walk. Clean rooms, most with microwaves and comfy beds. The staff is generally very helpful.

The Dis Ladies Only group has stayed there the past two years for our annual trip.

Ditto what toocherie stated. We've stayed at most of the Harbor Blvd hotels across from the DLR, and HoJo is our favorite despite the slightly longer walk.

Another vote for Hojos! It's definitely one of the favorites here! :thumbsup2 We stay there everytime we go!

I've read nothing but positive reviews on this board, unfortunately it was sold out during our visit, my son would have loved their water/pool area. Search "Hojo" in the seach box above!

hojos was good. the walk isnt to bad only about 2min longer then other hotels. An theres a short cut walking across the street an not all the way down to the mob of ppl.
Walking on the other side of the side walk saves you time

I have this map -- I think the convention center is the white building below DCA (on Convention Way). HoJos is up across from DL by the McDonalds -- quite a distance it seems...

Shyboy--most people try to use the Entertainment Card rate--you can buy an Entertainment book/card for approx. $40 and get lots of food place discounts. With the card that comes with the book you can book Hojo on certain dates (and there are many) for as low as $59 a night.

If you have an AP use the code (LNAP) for 20% off their best available rate. I used it today for Christmas weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the rate :goodvibes They also offer AAA rates for those with Auto Club memberships :)

We will be there next month and my boys can't wait to play in the new pirates area:woohoo:

We just got back from our DL vacation where we stayed at the HoJo off Harbor Blvd. We used the entertainment card. Currently, the book is selling for ~$15 with free shipping (check entertainment.com). We liked the hotel location as it was a relatively short walk from DL. Also, the room was quite nice considering the price. We had 2 Queen beds with ample space in the room. Everything was very clean - beds, linens, bathrooms, etc. We were supposed to have a "Premium Disney View" room but all we could see out of our room was a tall tree even though we were on the 5th floor. Our room was also close to I-5 and we could hear the noise from the traffic. This wasn't a huge deal breaker though because after an exhausting day at DL, we would sleep quite soundly.

The room had a micro fridge, microwave oven and a safe large enough to hold a laptop. There's free Internet connectivity and some basic TV channels. The provided soap/shampoo etc are barely enough for 2 people and the towels, though clean, were running a little thread-bare. One other niggle we had was that the toilet flush was impossible to operate for our 4-yr old. It wasn't a handle but a button on top of the tank that was partially hidden under the bathroom countertop and required a good amount of wrist strength to push down. This meant one of us would have to get up in the middle of the night to flush the toilet :) Other than that, we have nothing but good things to say about the place and would stay there on our next trip without hesitation.

HTH

PS: To make reservations, simply call the hotel's main number and ask for "In-house reservations". Once connected mention the entertainment rate and they'll help you through it. BTW, they are closed on weekends.

if you want to see the park ask for the floor 6 or 7. We had a perfect room last oct.

You can buy an entertainment book on mousesavers.com for a big discount -- only $15. We buy ours through our school group. It pays for itself with the grocery store coupons and movie theater discounts!

one more tip--you can buy the Ent. Book for your local community--you don't have to buy Orange County only--and the Ent. Rate will still be available with that card.

You can also just purchase the EC, via E bay for as little as one dollar or less.

Walking from Hojos can be far for some people however it is 1400 to 2600 feet or there about from your car in the parking garage to the tram then to security check in then to main gate. I would say Hojo's is the farthest out and for about half a block to two blocks more you avoid the trams and long long walk in the parking garage. Stop on your way to your room and get a Quizno's sub sandwich or McDonald's burger or stop and another restaurant.
