How young is too young for fantasmic??? :confused3

I have DD5 and DS3. Is it a really frightening show? We have skipped it other years because of my concerns, and I am wondering if this is the year, or should we put it off again?

It can be pretty scary. It's loud, with large and frightening (to a child) villains. Also, there is one part with a dragon and flames that cover the entire surface of the lagoon. It looks cool, but it would have scared the bejeezes out of dd4 (she went to the pool with grandpa instead). I think maybe 5 or 6 would be the youngest for a child at Fantasmic.

Mine has seen it at 12 months, 18 months, 26 months, 34 months, and at 3 1/2 and LOVED it every time. :confused3

I think it has MUCH more to do with the personality and temperment of the child than with age.

My DD was still afraid of Fantasmic! when she was 5. It is dark and very loud.

If you're concerned about your kids fears, then I'd recommend you choose seating toward the back to be safe. I've never seen any children (of all ages) freak out at Fantasmic. *shrugs*

Obviously, kids of all ages attend Fantasmic. You should phrase your question more like "My child hates open flames. Are there open flames in Fantasmic?" or something like that.

good point. My DD is kind of getting over the "scardy cat" phase, but DS is a worrier. He does not like many movies, and is constantly asking me if this one is a scary one. I am not sure if properly prepared how he would fair. My gut tells me he would be nervous, but since I have not seen it, I do not know what, in particular, would frighten him. Thus the general quesion

My daughter, four-years-old (just turned four) absolutely loved Fantasmic. Her eyes never left the show. She was enthralled to see the princesses come by on their boats, the show on the water and we even got wet. Oh yes, front row!

While there were a few booms and some flames on the water, she was more interested in trying to discover how water could burn than afraid. We saw many children there.

Buy your child one of the neato light toys and try not to be too close to the water (you could get wet).

I think that if you are concerned you should see it for yourself first and make the decision... You are the only one that knows your childrens personalities.

My kids have all seen it, they all have different personalities and they all loved it at whatever age they were.... some younger then 2. I agree that I personally have never witnessed anyone freaking out but then again we always wait forever for the show to start and sit right in the front.... Maybe all the caos is going on behind us but never where it has disturbed our show.

Its actually been quite interesting since joining the boards to see how many people have had problems with fantasmic because we have never talked with anyone that had a problem with it either until I saw all the threads like this. I think that there are so many disney movies that are very much the same concept as fantasmic but then again I have a step daughter thats afraid of Skud the dog on toy story and she is 12.... Yikes!!! WE have never taken her to disney... I cant imagine what kind of things would happen if we did. Just the 6 kids that are mine and my husbands... my step-daughters mother is too scared to let her go.... hmmmm wonder if some of that is passed on from MOM!!!

We took DS (5 months) last month and he was fascinated with it. I agree with the poster who said to sit near the back on an aisle and then you can jump out easily. There is a dragon and villians but they are far away, and on the other side of water so I don't think they are as scary.
