Thinking about last weeks show and how terrible the food is at the American Pavilion about how Diser's would change it if we were in charge. I picture booths of food representing our hometowns or regions resulting and food which gives a diverse taste of American Food. So if you were in charge of a booth what would you serve?

Representing Buffalo, NY I would serve
1. Buffalo Chicken Wings (not pizza hut wings, but Duffs and Anchor Bar style)
2. Beef on Weck (on a kummelweck roll)
and
3. Chiavetta's Barbecue Chicken

How about moving Soaring? Instead of just flying over California it could be a cross country trip. We could start in Hawaii, up to Alaska, down the Pacific Coast Highway, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone….. (you get the idea) ending with Illuminations.
What about a signature restaurant with classic American cuisine; New England Clam Chowda (I’m from RI that’s how we spell Chowda), New York Cheese Cake, Maryland’s Crab Cakes, Boston Baked Beans, Main Blueberry Pie, Philly Chesses Steak , Idaho Baked Potatoes, Louisiana Shrimp, Georgia Pecan Pie, Virginia Baked Ham, Rice-a-Roni The San Fransico Treat and best of all Starbucks Coffee from Seattle. We also could have Barbeque, pulled pork, ribs with rubs and barbeque sauces from all over.

it is where i would have put 50's Prime Time Cafe..........................

I enjoy the American Adventure and Voices of Liberty. The Fife & Drum Corp. The America Gardens Theater. It's a lovely pavilion.
I do think the "shopping" could be expanded to include "American made" items from around the country.

But... the food MUST change. I like the food court idea, showcasing foods from all over the USA. I do not think we need a table service restaurant here, as the rest of WDW has quite a few "American" table service offerings.

This last point was how I rationalized the horrible food at the Liberty Inn over the years. "At least this isn't the only representation of what American food is like" made me feel a teensy bit better about this awful place.

But I think it's time is up- it really needs to go. You could do the foods of America idea without even changing the architecture of the building. It's a pretty enough place. They just serve awful food.

@gojoe yay for Seattle and our Starbucks! Disney really needs to get on that train but ONLY if they bring in Seattle baristas. Sadly, I can tell when someone wasn't trained in the motherland :). Wouldn't it be cool if there was a work exchange like all the other countries in Epcot? Real southerners making the fried chicken, Californians making fish tacos, Maine lobster......

I totally agree that there is some truly American foods that should be represented. Who wants chicken nuggets to be what we are known for?

I'm a little ashamed to say that I've never been inside the American Pavilion because I read that it wasn't worth my time but I would defo be there if Soarin moved in!

THIS has been MY idea for YEARS!! (the signature restaurant) Must be a RI thing ;) Disney could really make AMERICA shine with this. I also LOVE the idea of having "CM's from each state". Also AGREE with "they just serve AWFUL food" :sad2: It also seems as if EVERY country is getting a redo with their restaurants EXCEPT America!! I believe that I have read there was a REASON America was placed smack in the middle of WS. It was to be the SHOWCASE for America to other countries. I do not think this has been kept up very well.:sad2: Joan

I like the American Adventure show and the Voices of Liberty.

The food obviously could be improved, and I would actually like it if they would put in a table service restaurant.

But since there are lots of other food choices in World Showcase, my biggest complaint about the American Adventure pavilion is that the bathrooms weren't built big enough :confused3.

And my crazy dream for the pavilion (which I know is completely and utterly ridiculous but that has popped into my head anyway on occasion) is that the American Gardens Theater stage should be retractable so that people can sit in the stands to view IllumiNations.

I like that idea! And have fastpasses so you don't have to stake a spot forever in advance

Stealing the theme from the signature dining idea upthread, how about a boat-ride thru all those areas of the country? It would be cheaper for Disney to make this than to re-film a Soarin' type ride and would have the added bonus of not having a height requirement. They could even have a speedy airboat section for the bayou. That might be fun. They could buy the shark from the Jaws! ride at Universal and repaint it to be a gator. :thumbsup2 If they aren't using the chilly room from Test Track anymore, it could be repurposed in an Alaska-themed section. I'm all for saving money!

but i never get over to the Sports Complex..........

Still not a good reason to put a bowling alley in The American Pavilion.

We could extrapolate this out to include all of the other things that you don't get a chance to do at Disney, but would still be bad ideas for the American Pavilion, but I'll leave those to your imagination.

This is such an awesome idea. They could sell a portion of it like they do Fantasmic Dinner Packages.

The idea of food choices from regions of the US sounds good, but keep the Voices of Liberty as well as the American Adventure. I find both provide a very moving experience.... As far as the many good ideas here - YES to the retractable cover for the pavillion, Yes to larger (and closer) bathrooms. YES to a change of scenery for Soarin', I love it, but would like it updated, such as adding special effects such as sprays of water on your feet as you go down the river.

Yes - I also find the food over there to be terrible, and the atmosphere is not very good. I would like to see 3 American fast food places represented in that food court. 1) Kentucky Fried Chicken, 2) Wendy's, and a Taco Bell

OK, if a bowling alley isn't a good idea then surely a Baseball Field would work. :rolleyes1
