How Would You Proceed? Advice Please Long

OP, you had a vasovagal response to having your sutures removed. This response is fairly common with some people when they have any type of "needle" procedure done to them. If you go to have blood drawn from a lab, they will often try to watch for this but usually they don't.

My cousin's 16 year old son went with his dad to have some blood drawn. The tech took his blood, put a bandaid on him, he stood up to leave, started walking out and then he fell and passed out. He hit his head and they had to call an ambulance and take him to the hospital. The lab was in no way responsible and your I don't think your doctor's office is either.

Now that you know you have this propensity towards a vasogal faint, ANY time you have a procedure done you need to inform the doctor/nurse. They will most like draw blood or do the procedure with you in a reclining position and have you sit there for a few minutes before they allow you to get up.

Sounds right, my brother had the same response after he got a tattoo.

I was going to suggest neurocardiogenic syncope as well.. I do think that you need to get checked out for any underlying health issues that may have contributed to this episode of fainting. I think you should get an EEG and ECG to rule out something serious. Were you standing or high up on the examination table? . I hope that you are doing much better. Be sure to see an ophthalmologist about your eye too

I have this. And you do need to go to the doctor to be checked out, as Disney Doll mentions in the post below this one.

I blacked out while driving down the freeway, going 75mph. Thankfully I had pinpoint holes of vision. It lasted long enough to completely freak me out. I had a complete cardiac and neurological workup performed, and a positive tilt table test confirmed it.

Since then, I have blacked out while sitting at my desk about five times, I've blacked out having a salivary stone probed, I've blacked out having a cyst manipulated, and I almost always black out when getting IV's.

I can usually tell when an 'episode' is going to happen now, so I make sure I'm sitting, and leaning back. It's scary, but you learn to live with it.

Whenever I make doctor appointments now, I always make sure to mention it, if I know it's going to be invasive.

I'd go back to them. You can pretty much be assured that they will look out for you after that event. And you do like your doctor. It's not his/her fault this happened. And it's not the nurses either, really. She had no reason to believe you'd pass out.

I fainted cold at the radiology office when getting a mammogram once. I, like you, woke up on the floor with doctors and techs standing over me. It was a shock to realize after they told me I'd fainted that I actually had (I didn't believe them until I realized I was on the floor). It's never happened again, but I tell every tech that handles me during mammograms now, that this happened to be previously and they are extra careful of me.
I guess I was lucky not to have been injured like you. They said I hit my head on the wall, and I was told to be careful in case I had a concussion (I didn't).

I'm sorry for your troubles.

I work for an attorney w handles accident and medical malpratice. We would not take you case based on the facts. Also there wil not be enoug damages involved for an attorney to take it. Sorry this happended, but I am a fainter. I have passed out several times over the years, luckly have never been injuried.

I don't see this as the doctor's office fault. They didn't ignore warning signs, it happened after the nurse had left the room.

I have fainted once in my life. I was 14 and kneeling during mass. The next thing I know my older brother is leaning over me to pick me up. I felt fine and have no idea why it happened.

It truly is a scary thing, I am so fortunate I was not driving in the case of another poster. The office called to check on me this morning, they are wonderful there. I have an appointment to get out the stitches on Thursday. My eye is opening a little, now. My cheek is still hugely swollen and so is my head, but I have been keeping ice on my eye, that could be why it is going down. I am trying to slowly wean myself from these pain pills. I know if I did not have to be on them I would probally feel a little better. They make me dizzy, nauseated, and groggy. As soon as I heal properly I will be getting a full workup done to see if there is an underlying cause from my medical doctor, if he will. I just had a check-up about 3 months ago, so if he will not do it, I will find another that will, just to be on the safe side. I will try to keep you updated as needed. When it happens to me, I can still hear. I'm awake, but my head starts to feel stuffed, and my heart palpitates like crazy. Sometimes I see bright flashes of light. The neurologist first thought it could be TIA's, which scared the beejeesuz out of me.

I have completely passed out twice before. Both times I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I didn't attribute it to the syncope until a couple of years ago when I was diagnosed.

When I stand, I always have to adjust myself to the change in blood pressure. Very often I will stand and things will go gray on me.
