How would this work?

Ok, how would this work. Planning on going next year at the end of Sept, early October. Have APs and want to use them again before they expire in Nov.

Thought we would give that time a year a try to check out the MNSSHP and Food and wine Festival.

Now I have heard that typically there are no AP rates in Sept or at least there wasn't last year. Also I have heard that if you check in during value season, you get value season rates for the entire stay, even if you stay goes over into regular season rates.

Ok since obviously AP rates are better (on average) than Value season. How would I go about doing this.

If I checked in on Sept 30th (which happens to be a Friday next year), could I apply an AP rate for my stay if codes come out for October?

I think you get the idea of what I am trying to get at so any help/advice would be appreciated.

Ill take a stab at this.
If you check in during value season then yes you do get the value season rate for the entire stay, even if the season/rate changes.
Now say AP rates didnt come out for Sept, but they did for Oct(I believe that is what you are asking about), and your stay is booked beginning with Sept 30, you could see if the AP rate is available for Oct 1st, through the end of your stay. If so, you could book those nights with the AP rate, and cancel those nights on your previous reservation. Therefore you would have 2 reservations, one for Sept 30th at the value season rate, and another from Oct 1st-??? at the AP rate. You would have to check in a second time, and I believe there could be a chance you may have to move rooms(Im sure they would try to keep you in the same room though if possible), but if it gets you a better rate, it may be worth it.
