If both people are staying in the same cabin, you will need to book both people through MS. The price paid tby the person paying cash will be the price MS has previously negotiated with the DCL. It may be more or less than the cash price available directly from the DCL or a Travel Agent.

thanks for the reply! do you know the history of the price negotiated w/DCL? is it generally less? i can;t see it being more; that would be defeating the purpose. thanks again!

The cash price portion through DVC is usually much more than the advance booking discounts. I're recommend you look at the cash prices through DCL or a TA before commiting to using points. You may be surprised that in this situation the cash price for the total may be very close to the cash portion throug DCL. Now it depends on how far out you are and what cabin you want. So look at both options.

Hi,

I agree with Dean here. Mom & I are going to be taking a 4 day cruise in a catagory 8 statroom in May 2005. We decided to book through DCL & got a $700 early booking discount. We just didn't want to use the points. And if we paid part points & cash, the cash portion has to be paid all @ the same time i.e. when booked!!! Good luck! Use the points to go to WDW or Disney Vero Beach or even HH for a few days. That's what we're going to do (Vero)!

okay, i am convinced that cash price is the way to go. maybe my next question should be on the cruise board. when i asked about the early booking discount i was told there really wasn't one it is just that the closer you get to the sailing date the more the cost. does that sound right?

We looked at using points for a 7-day cruise and the math clearly showed using cash was the way to go.

I would book early. We needed a one-bedroom suite and booked a year out, and almost did not get one.

We are doing the 7-day Disney cruise that leaves on August 7th. I would be willing to bet the cruise board would be the best place to get your answers. Have fun. :boat:
