How will this rain effect crowds for next week?

We are going to arrive at DLR Thursday morning (7 DAYS! :yay:), and so far the forecast says that it is only raining Tuesday of next week. I was thinking that since locals have not been wanting to go all of this week because of the rain, that a whole bunch of them would be itching to go by next week. Is this usually the case? I was looking forward to low crowds, I hope that it won't be too bad! :scared1:

I'm wondering the same thing -- Literally planned this trip trying to avoid crowds!

We almost always go on rainy days. Some times it feels like we have the park to ourselves!

Locals believe that if its gonna rain, its not gonna rain unless it actually does so i believe there will be the same amount of ppl going...

Possibly. It's hard to say, though. This has been kind of an extreme weather situation. We don't normally get smacked with so much rain in a week, for several days in a row, so we can't really say what normally happens because this is not exactly the norm. Certainly there will be more people in the parks when it is not raining and it will be back to business as usual, but unless there is some specific thing to draw large numbers of people next week (or when it dries up), it shouldn't be any more crowded than it would have been anyway on a non-rainy day in January, given all the new AP holders and what not. In other words, unlike the holiday season - where a rainy week can throw off plans to see the seasonal festivities within the limited time they are up - there is not really anything that new or out of the ordinary or only up for a short time that is happening at DLR this month, so I don't see why it would be abnormally crowded even when the rains subside.

This is an El Nino year, though, so we may not be seeing the last of the bad storms. Usually, when we get El Nino rain in California (as opposed to just regular rain, which is not much in a year), it rains a lot, for a long time, in California, and it goes into February, March and sometimes April, too. Since this bad rain is happening in January, I have a feeling we are not out of the woods yet!

I was wondering the same thing. We're planning on going on Saturday and wondered if there are others like us who are heading over there this weekend because they haven't been able to get their Disneyland fix this past week. I'm expecting bigger crowds than on a "normal" saturday in january but who knows. :confused3

I went to Disney Tokyo last year and it was raining pretty hard in the morning. My shoes/feet were wet all day but the crowds were very light so it was worth it :-). From around 9:00 p.m. on I virtually had the run of the park. It was fantastic!

Ok, that's good. I was planning this trip too because I knew that it wouldn't be crowded. Of course I will have fun either way. But Sherry I didn't know it rained that much! DBF won't be happy at all about the rain but I will be content if we come prepared. :thumbsup2 We probably won't be taking many pictures if it does because my hair will be a cheese puff but oh well. :woohoo:

The cheese puff look is 'in' now!! LOL!! It does not rain that much in SoCal in regular years, but in El Nino years, it can get nasty (sometimes really, really nasty and sometimes just really bad). I remember not being able to walk through a supermarket parking lot at all once because there were rushing flood waters everywhere and it was too much to deal with!

By the way, right now, the rain has eased up just a bit again (and just 90 minutes ago it was pouring and gusting wind!) and I even see a tiny patch of blue sky. This is what the news called 'Round 4' of the storms this week. They claim this storm is "gaining intensity." You mean to tell me that the "intensity" we just had 90 minutes ago was not the worst of it and it will be worse? Arrrggghhhh!:scared1:

Haha if that is the case I am looking good today! :lmao: I have never heard of El Nino but whoever he is he is getting us down here too! My county is under a tornado warning right now, and I am freaking out. :thumbsup2 I am terrified of tornadoes. I have nightmares about them, haha.

Well I do hope that everyone stays safe. *crosses fingers* I really do feel bad for anyone who had their trip planned this week. I would not want to be there if it's like it is here! :sad2:
