How will this affect my share?

I am joining a photopass share (not on here) for an upcoming trip. I am "hoping" that Disney will be offering the Free Dining like on our last trip at this time too. I know the new FD offer requires the purchase of a photobook. So...my question is do you think that being a part of a photopass share will affect my ability to make/get my photobook? I know nothing about these books except that they cost 90.00. Any advice?? Help!!

Last I knew, you could only connect your Photopass card with one account on the Photopass site. So you couldn't have your card connected with both the share account and your own account where you have the free Photobook.

Personally, I would get out of the share. You're going to have to buy the Photobook anyway for the free dining package, so why spend more to do a share, unless it's because you really want the CD? But I really don't know about the multiple accounts issue and how that would work out.

That is my concern exactly...that only one of us will be able to get the book if we all were in a share and we all used the FD promo...ugh!! We've been on several trips and I have a Photopass disc from each trip that I guard with my heart! It is the only pics I can get where I am in them! I'm the only decent photographer in my family! Go figure! Anyway...I don't know what to do...hate paying nearly 100.00 for a book and not using it...but also hate forgoing those pictures on a disc...they are priceless. My only choice is to pay the 100.00 bucks to do my own photopass and when you add that and the photopass book I have to buy to get free dining, it's not much of a savings at that point! :confused3

I have done shares in the past, but I see this being Disney's way to eliminate the shares during the times when they were most prominent.

Not only would only one person be able to get the book in the share, others would still have to pay for their book and not get anything.

I would assume the majority of people who do free dining also would be open to a share. By Disney making you pre-purchase the CD/book you eliminate the possibility of many shares. Actually quite brilliant on Disney's part to start to close the share loophole.

Funny that you say that...I was telling my hubby that same thing last night...that Disney figured out how to beat the photopass share loophole! Ha! I guess I'll just wait and see what offers come out for January before I make any decisions. :( I will have to write down each offer and figure out what gives me more bang for the buck...ugh...I hate having to do this but it does save us $$ in the long run!!

I think they have to allow more than one code from the free dining prepurchase per photopass account. If somebody books 2 rooms for their family (ex a family of 6 staying in regular rooms) then they need a way to redeem those 2 photo book prepurchase codes. I would call the photopass people and ask if this is possible and if there's a limit to how many prepayment books can be applied to a single account or a single order. If multiple prepayment books can be applied to a single account then everybody will have to build their photobooks under the share leader's account and order the books that way. Each person's cost will obviously go up a little since the share leader will now have to have send out the books in addition to the cds but I would think it would be doable.

Can someone so kindly fill me in on what FD promo and photobook thing you are speaking of? Thanks a bunch!!

There is a general public free dining offer out, and one of the requirements of the offer is the purchase of the Photopass Photobook as part of your package (as well as rack rate hotel and a minimum 2 day ticket for all in your room).

With the current FD promotion the book is free!! I have priced it out with the promo and without and it is the same price. no extra charge for the book.

You used to be able to upload your own photos to use with the photobook. If this is still possible then just wait until you have your copy of the cd, upload the pics to your account as personal photos and use them in your book. I have never done a share but did prorder both the book and CD one year for $150. I edited all my PP pics and got my CD and then used both CD pics as well as ones taken with my camera for the book.

They charge 90.90 for the book. It is most definitely NOT free.

That seems like a good idea.

And this is correct - it is not free.

So how does this work? I have a big family. My DH & I and 5 kids and the original idea was to get 2 rooms with 2 double beds in each. Do people in my situation have to buy 2 photo books?

If both rooms have free dining, I would say yes (haven't booked one myself, but I don't know why it wouldn't). Just like each room has the minimum ticket requirement. You can't get the free dining package without buying the book.

There are stickies in the either (or both) the Restaurants/DDP board or the Resorts/Codes & Discounts board with all the details.
