How will the lines be at TOT and RnRC at almost closing?

This trip is a more laid-back, relaxing one....I think we will only be hitting TOT and RnRC for my 2 older sons. Should we go into the park later in the evening......at almost closing? Would Fantasmic take some of the crowds? We are going the 1st of August. THANKS!

We were at MGM at closing the third week of August and missed Fantasmic because we kept riding RnR over and over--no waits! There was only one showing of Fantasmic that evening, and it became standing room only, and the CMs couldn't let us in after it started.

Thanks Debbie.......lol about riding RnRC over and over......I can certainly understand that! Your answer is the one that I wanted to hear.:D

Goofy, I'll give you the answer that you DON'T want to hear. I've gone on two different nights for that EXACT reason. Both times it was a case of the park closing at 10pm with a Fantasmic at 8ish and another at park closing. So EVERYONE in the park was over in Sunset Blvd. The first time was in April (the weak after Easter -- so it was busy season) and RnR was close to an hour wait (around 9pm) and Tower of Terror closer to half an hour. By 9:30 (did ToT first, naturally) RnR was down to 45 minutes and it worked out well since we got to see Fantasmic too even though it was a few minutes after it was starting (the last show typically has plenty of seating while the earlier show does not).

If you're in one of the days when it's just one Fantasmic (say 8:30 Fantasmic and the park closes at 9pm) then you're probably talking off-season and I can see where it might be a bit better.

We went to MGM (just DH and I) specifically to ride just RnRC and ToT. We got a fast pass for RnRC and then went and stood in line for ToT. By the time we finished ToT, it was time on our fastpasses to ride RnRC. This was a morning in June. We did it this way because we hat the line for RnRC and the line for ToT is more pleasant. It worked out great and we did not have to wait in line for RnRC at all. Just walked right on with fast pass.

Good luck on your relaxing vacation. We had hoped for that but instead went camando everyday even after saying the day before we won't do this again. We have been home 2 days now and I am still exhausted, I think I need another vacation! We were at MGM on Wednesday, that morning we got a fastpass for ROR and stood in line twice for Tower for about 15 minutes each, and then it was time for ROR. That evening about 8:00 we went and rode TOT (DD's favorite ride) six times before we went and lined up for Fantasmic at 9:45. The line was always moving fast because we only saw about 3 families that whole time going in the fastpass line so we guessed everyone had used their fastpasses up by that time. Good luck and have a nice and relaxing time for us please!

Best time to ride ToT & RnR is right at opening or right before closing so you should be set.

ToT usually only has a 15 minute or less wait during the evenings. We have noticed this on our last 2 June trips. During Fantasmic, they are both virtually walk ons. Enjoy your relaxing trip!

I'm glad to hear that because my plans were to grab a FP for RnRC and get in line for ToT. I was hoping that this would be the best plan to be able to ride the two. Now I'm wondering what to do next after those rides. We really want to be on WWTBAM, so I might have to grab a fastpass for that and then go ride The Great Movie Ride. Counting down........can't wait...........:bounce: :bounce:
