How will reservations shift when VGF2 bookings are permitted?

Just curious. Does anyone want to hazard a guess if reservations will shift from any particular type of booking to VGF2?

I have a reason for asking. We are going to DW for our 20 year anniversary in Sept. I am hoping to book a Poly Studio or VGF1 studio as we only want one bed, lol. Hoping some people jump from Poly or VGF1 to VGF2.

Usually a new resort gets a good share of people looking to try it out when it first opens so I wouldn't consider it an impossibility. Poly is a good one to waitlist anyway with so many studios and most of them in the standard view category and every resort gets cancellations. I'd set up a waitlist now if you haven't already.

I believe 3/14 is when bookings for VGF owners (new & old) will open for the new VGF2 resort studios, so it might be worthwhile to hop online then to see if there’s a lot of movement, I know I’m likely to try & grab a couple nights in a new studio then. I think but am not positive that general non home resort bookings will open 2 months later? So it might be worth checking then too.

VGF2 studios will not appear for online booking on 3/14. Members who own at VGF will have to call to book the resort studios. Members who own at other resorts can begin booking VGF2 on May 15, but will still have to wait for the 7-month window to open for their dates.

It will be interesting to see if deluxe studio availability opens up as people shift to the resort studios. I've been told how wrong I am about the popularity of the resort studios vs deluxe studios. If I'm wrong, then there will be a huge shift to VGF2. There should also be a big shift from 1BR to studios since the conventional wisdom on these boards is that members book 1BRs because studios are so hard to get. We should be able to follow an increase in deluxe studio availability and 1BRs online.

I wasn’t clear - my thinking was as people booked VGF2 they’d cancel their existing reservations elsewhere which would then show up online, so there might be inventory showing up - especially folks w/ booked VGF1 studios who want to switch to the new bigger studios w/ 2 real beds.
I prefer 1 br.s at the VGF because I love the space & the spa tub & the washer/dryer, so I’m not booking 1 br.s there because I can’t get studios & I’m keeping my already booked 1 br. just thinking about extending my trip w/ a couple studio nights, but I think I’m atypical. I suspect that it will take awhile for things to settle since lots of folks want to try what’s new, thus I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of movement May 15 when people grab new VGF2 studios & cancel what they had elsewhere.

I don't think you will see a lot of movement from other resorts to VGF2 on 3/14. That would only be members who are, or who have recently become, VGF owners. They will not be able to use non-resort points at VGF until 5/15, so there will be very little in the way of shifting until then. Any shifting that occurs before 5/15 would be VGF1 owners who used their points at another resort at 7 months but really wanted to stay at VGF.

And I agree with you regarding 1BR villas but I've been told that I'm wrong to be concerned about availability in the VGF1 building due to the influx of new members...the resort studios are just so wildly popular! <insert eye rolling emoji here>.

And out of the few new buyers who have posted what they have done or are doing with their points? I've seen more than enough say booking 1 & 2BR's. The 1st advertisement I saw for VGF on sale mentioned first and foremost about the 1 & 2BR's. I'm still really wishing the Resort studios at least offered a minimal kitchenette. Put a microwave in and a real fridge not a beverage cooler. Seeing the walk thru and the actual room video tour there's plenty of space that it could go that is going to be dead space.

Specifically, with the dual sink area in the bathroom did they really need to add a vanity. They could have easily fit a kitchenette in the vanity area, although I'm sure the vanity was much cheaper.

That's what I thought when I saw the vanity area.

I have booked a 2 bedroom for December with my new VGF points and a 1 bedroom for January with my new VGF points. So, there has to be some level of impact. I also think leaving out the microwave and the real mini fridge was just plain silly when there is room for it.

But, I do have a deluxe studio booked for July that I am going to switch to a resort studio just to try it out. I am only there one night, arrive around 3 pm, and then head over to RIV for the next two so figure it was a good time to see how it works.

ETA: Does anyone wonder if they may decide down the road to update and add? Remember what happened with BLT...no sink in the bathroom...and they ended up fixing it?

I plan to book resort studios in Dec and Jan on March 14. Mainly because my daughter loves the concept art for the new resort studios. I currently have a 1 bedroom booked at VGF for Jan that I hope to drop and turn into the resort studio.

I saw a report on facebook earlier today from an owner that toured and they gave it a big thumbs down for not having a microwave and an actual fridge. The guide told them they were hearing that a lot and they could easily be added. That completely reminded me of BLT because when I toured the models for that I told the guide that it was not very appealing to have the bathroom sink and vanity in the kitchen and he said they were getting 50% thumbs down on that at the time. This would be a much easier thing to "fix". If anyone with some influence is still around from the BLT launch time I wouldn't be surprised to see it change before it opens. Fingers crossed.

Are the points for 2 the same as 1?

The theme park view rooms in VGF2 are higher than any studio in VGF1 but the points chart for standard and lake views are the same in both buildings.

Thank you very much!
