So what do you think?

For those of you that go in the summer and do an afternoon break, is the best strategy with being able to book from your phone:

1.Go for rope drop and go on as much as you can and save fast passes for the evening (This is our current strategy).
2.Schedule fast passes for the morning and then hope that there are still some left for later at night that you can get on your phone?

We would never wait in long lines for additional fast passes at a kiosk but we might be willing to book them if we can book them from our phones. I like having guaranteed fast passes at night so I know I will be able to go on some rides after dinner.

We go every August, and last two years have done a combo of both the strategies you mentioned! It's nice to get our fave rides in the morning but also a couple it's nice to not have to rush after dinner to get to the best rides if we have the fast passed

The new additions to FP+ won't change our touring much, but it will be nice to be able to get FPs from my phone, and especially the ability to get FPs for a park you're going to hop to. We do rope drop every morning. If we're going to hop to another park, I get our FPs starting around 10am or earlier, and get them all in a row. When those are used, I will grab whatever I can for the park were hopping to. Getting the early FPs is also a good strategy if you want to get those extra FPs, and what works for us. :flower3:

I think both are going to work. It's going to make 4th FP+ even harder to come by so my viewpoint is going to be that it will put even more emphasis on your first three FP+, not less.

What I mean is, some people may vie this as a success because now they can book additional FP+ easier, but so can everyone else draining availability. And just like the example you gave alot of peolpe will make a 4th or 5th FP+ ressie from their phone with the intentions of going to that other park after a resort swim or nap and never make it.

BUT, if you want to schedule your first thee FP early in the morning, hopefully you can still end up with a Fantasmic or something like that for later in the evening at another park.

If they make availability to book the 4th and beyond FP from your phone, the inventory of FP is going to be terrible. I won't count on getting much worthwhile if they make this change.

I'm glad of the changes for convenience and *opportunity* but my guess would be that *availability* is by no means a sure thing, so I totally agree that those first 3 are even more valuable than before. For me that means little change in strategy - I like to schedule them late morning thru mid-afternoon when lines are longest to get the most wait time savings.

OP, I hope you don't mind if I ask a question on your post.

We have an ADR for CRT at 8:05. We would like to head to PP when we are done with breakfast and ride as many of the FL rides as possible as soon as they are open - MK opens at 9:00 that day. I was thinking of making the FP+ start around 11:00 and then be each hour. If we have a FP+ for 7DMT, I'm not that interested in heading there to possibly ride it early right after breakfast. Do you think that is a good strategy? I'm just worried about what kind of 4th FP will be available if we wait until 1:00, but as was mentioned earlier the 4th FP might be an issue regardless.
TIA,
Amy

@4forWDW i don't usually work to hard for extra FPs, so I'm not the expert in this area. However, I think you'll not be in a position to beat the crowds to 7 dwarfs unless you rush your nice breakfast. Personally, I'd just use my FP on it later and spend the early hours doing lots of other rides with short waits. From all I read about extra FPs, 1pm is not too late to get plenty of useful ones, though it won't likely be additional rides on 7 dwarfs. All this becomes more of a question soon, though, since starting April 10, you can get extra FP on your phone and who knows how that will affect everything!

I swear I was able to book a 4th FP for Space in November through my phone. It's not a new thing right?

It is a new thing. You may have modified one through your phone, but it seems unlikely you were able to book one that way.

Maybe I modified one. I just remember sitting outside jungle cruise waiting for what must have been a fastpass or a DAS return time and being surprised Space was still available at 3pm.
