Can anyone tell me how EMH will effect the first weekend in Dec?

I'm still a little confused as to how this works. Does this mean that the parks will always close early to off site guests now?

We have a timeshare condo in Orlando 10 minutes from the gates and I'm going to be very sad if I'm now always faced with shorter hours if I don't stay onsite :(

From what I can tell, you don't face shorter hours being off-site. However, you do get extra hours if you stay on-site. Also, remember the hours are shorter in December no matter what. I stayed on-site last December & did not utilize any of the EMHs, but had a great time & because of the low crowds, we did everything we wanted to do. :teeth:

Okay. I thought I read here that people were saying it would make it so the parks closed earlier so they could re-open to charge onsite for EMH.

At this time, that's only speculation. The only official alteration to the current schedule is from May 9-22. Disney is using this as a trial to test how guests react to the possibility of splitting Extra Magic Hours between mornings and evenings.

Most likely the evening hours will not be started by clearing out the parks and letting onsite guests back in. For e-ride nights, which were only open to onsite guests who paid a separate admission, e-ride guests were issued a wristband. After the official park closing time, only guests with wristbands were allowed on the attractions. Those without wristbands were pointed toward the exits, but they could stop and shop on the way out (Disney wasn't missing out on THAT opportunity).
