How was John Con?

So how was it? Was John's cooking delicious? Who rode Top Thrill Dragster? What was the reaction to the DIS Con 2 video and the Ohio meets flashback preshow? It looked like a lot of fun. Sorry I missed it.

Everyone took lots of photos. I videotaped the crowd reaction to the video. I can't speak for everyone who was there, but I got the impression that they all enjoyed it thoroughly. Someone even asked if you were a professional videographer and was floored to find out that this is your hobby. Even the people who had never been to any DISmeets really enjoyed the video.

Some of us rode Top Thrill Dragster on Friday night. Bill (Barb's DH), myself, DS James, and DD Sarah waited 2 hours to ride. Cindy B's family (DH Jeff and DS Josh) decided to wait until early entry on Saturday morning to ride. Josh and Jeff got front seat after waiting only 30 minutes.

The ride is amazing. The initial acceleration is hard to describe. What struck me was how quiet it was after the initial push. You just glide up and over the 420 high track. DD Sarah had her eyes closed at the start of the ride. When we crested the top, Sarah thought that the ride was over and opened her eyes only to see that she was VERY high above Cedar Point. It's an incredibly smooth ride.

One advantage to riding in the front is that you avoid the "splash zone". Bill and I got showered with something on the way back down the tower. Ewwww.

I wouldn't wait 2 hours again to ride TTD, but I look forward to another crack at it once the novelty wears off. I was disappointed (but not surprised) that Cedar Point has not started using the "Freeway" system on TTD. (Freeway is similar to a Fast Pass).

All in all an enjoyable weekend. Sorry you couldn't be there Barry. Perhaps next year.

Barry, having never seen any of your prior work I must say I am quite amazed at your production and I congratulate you! Your video was fun for me to watch especially that it was being narrated so that I could put faces to the names I see here on the boards.

The day that you missed was most enjoyable. The food was delicious and plentiful. The people were friendly and welcoming. The children were so well behaved that it was hard to believe that any children were about. People came early and stayed late!

Yes, it was great! I rode Dragster using the Child Swap ticket, after Jeff/Josh got on. I waited maybe 15 minutes after Jeff/Josh finished. I got second row, right hand side. It was worth every penny to get the early entry.

It was a blast, we had a great time!

Cool! I can see everyone enjoyed the video because the meet photos has a lot of similing faces watching it!

Next year will be the DIS Meets 2003 video.
