about a month after it was opened? I saw the opening day picture (amazing!!), but wondered how the wait times were later in the summer?

I know several of you were there, and pics and info would be appreciated.

I have been begging my husband to visit Universal, and he actually said yesterday "how about a visit this summer?" I was excited at first, but then I got a bit scared!!!!

We would be staying onsite, but I am not sure if that will make any difference this year!

We went about a week after wwohp opened and it was busy! We didn't even visit the wand shop because it was a 2 1/2 hr wait. We waited in line at opening (not staying at a resort in universal) and the forbidden journey was about an hour wait. Hope that helps lol

My parents went about two months after it opened and waited over 3 hours to ride FJ. They said the whole area was packed. Sounds like hell to me.

Of course, my daughter and I went last August, used early entry, and STILL waited over an hour for FJ. Which I would NOT do again.

We were there opening weekend and it was amazing...CRAZY but amazing. We stayed onsite and the day AFTER opening we were able to enter WWOHP, didn't even try on opening day, and managed to do everything EXCEPT wand shop. That was too crazy. That being said I am thinking THIS years trip will fall on opening weekend or close there after. This area will be larger than last area though and I feel the potter fans can disburse more between the 2 parks. If you are planning a trip, I wouldn't let the crowds scare you away. Front of the Line is a God Send and we were just fine on opening weekend.

Thanks everyone!!! I think if everything is open for the new HP area by the time we would want to go, we will finally make our first tri[!!

Now to decide which onsite resort. All three have something very appealing to us so deciding is not going to be easy.

We went in August 2010, about two months after the opening ceremony. We stayed onsite, so the rest of our touring was easy. It was busy enough that they had long lines to get into the WWOHP area later in the day. We did rope drop two days that we were there and found it doable (we were able to do the rides, shop and eat to our satisfaction). We also were able to get into the area in the evening the first night we arrived (5:30p.m. flight) and twice when we happened to be in the Jurassic Park area when the rains came down and cleared out the lines (to get into the area, not so much re the ride lines). With the recent Universal additions, it may not be quite as scary this summer as I imagine the IOA area of WWOHP, Minions and Transformers may take up a little slack. I don't know how close to maximum occupancy for the parks in general those days were. If they weren't very close to occupancy, I would expect the crowds to be similar.
