How to "wrap" gift certificates printed from computer

I got Restaurant.com certificates for several of my cousins, and I would like to come up with a nice way to present them. They are just printed from the computer printer on regular paper. Any suggestions? I was thinking about those cards that you give money in, but most of the ones I looked at indicated that cash was inside.

If you want to disguise what they are, roll them up and put them in a paper towel tube. Then wrap the paper towel tube and tie the ends like a piece of candy.

I'm giving some to dh as "date nights" so I printed 2 copies of each and cut off just the top of one where it says $25 gift to restaurant name and laminated it and put it in a bracelet size gift box. I'll just give him the full print outs after he opens it.

How about:

* roll up in a napkin
* put into a chinese take out box or styrofoam doggy bag container!

I actually just put them in a small dress shirt box and wrap them how I normally wrap presents!
:thumbsup2

Cute ideas!

I was just looking for another recent thread here, something about Unique Ways to wrap a present - I didn't read it but would love to find it. So does anyone know where it is?

None of my business, of course, but it seems odd to give Restaurant.com certificates, which require them to spend a certain amount, as gifts. I would have been more likely to choose Groupon or Half Off Depot certificates that are more like gift cards. :confused3

Maybe you know your cousins love them. :cool1:

I paid for a housekeeper to come for 10 hours for my sister and put the certificate in an inexpensive picture frame. The 8 X 10 frame was easy to wrap then and will be a nicer presentation than just the paper IMHO.

I was just thinking the same thing. We use these certificates all of the time, but there is a minimum purchase and the tip is added on. For example, the Restaurant.com certificate I have in front of me is for $10, but you must spend $15. That is a pretty good one, some of other requirements. Also, if the person receiving the gift new what you paid for it, it really isn't $10. I think I paid 80 cents for my $10 gift certificate, so I really couldn't give it as a gift.

It is very thoughtful of you to purchase the gift, but I wasn't sure if you realized the restrictions.

Dollar Tree has plastic Chinese food take out containers in 2 sizes, in red, green, white or blue. I bought these to put gift cards in for restaurants that I have bought for people. thought it was fun, "take-out" food style wrapping, and since they are plastic they are re-usable and different! I now not the most udget friendly as they are $1 each and you could get an entire roll of paper for that, but I am excited that no one has used them as a wrapping theme in my family yet!:thumbsup2
they look like these:

but are at Dollar Tree

You could roll it up and tie with ribbon to stick in/on Christmas tree like an ornament.

I'm thinking..couldn't you buy the restaurant.com coupon...and then add a gift card to the restaurant for x amount of dollars? Can you do that?:confused3
I like the idea of the food take out boxes...that would tie it all together..

I like this idea - I think of the certificates as coupons.

Same thing here. These are more coupons than gift certificates. You have to spend a certain amount to get a certain amount off. I agree with the idea of giving the gift card with these coupons also. Since the person you are giving the coupon too has to spend a certain amount they really aren't getting a 'gift certificate'. Or what about taking the person to lunch and use the certificate and having the lunch be your treat and you end up getting discounted price. All the certificates I have used from there seem to be spend $35 (not including alcohol) and get $20 off so you are still out of pocket the $15 plus tax and tip on the original minimal $35. In the end we usually end up spending about $20 in these cases by the time the tax and tip are added. Since gift cards don't have restrictions on spend this amount and these do I consider them coupons for a certain amount off once the requirements are met. I wouldn't give them as certificates.... but that is my 2 cents.

Thanks everyone- I appreciate all of the suggestions. I do see that with the restrictions on the card it's more like a coupon, so I may add a $15 GC from the restaurant to cover the extra expense. Good thinking!

Sounds like a great gift now. :goodvibes
