How to use Disney Dining Plan?

Hi all,

This will be my first time using the Disney Dining Plan. I would like to know how to use the plan at a table servie restaurant. Are there menu items that are excluded? What are the different items that can be ordered? In addition should I tell my server that I am on the plan at the beginning of the meal or at the end. Thanks for your help.

Hi! We love the DDP! As you probably already know you get an app, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic bev. The tip is also included! Some apps and desserts are excluded but your server should be able to tell you when you arrive. We always tell our server when we are seated that we are on the plan if he/she doesn't ask. On our last trip {Jan} there was no questions any longer about if you were on the DDP or what was included. It was noted on all our ADR's and mentioned by the hostess at every place. The wait staff made it quite clear, (though quite nicely) what was and was not included. Very little is not included and most places like for you to take full advantage so their tip will be higher. We were encouraged to try smoothies and lobster two different places. It is much clearer at TS that it used to be. We had no issues at CS either though we did have to ask a couple things and were often given good advice we were not aware of such as using a snack credit for a extra order of fries.
