We'd like to try to eat out on the porch of Tony's and then watch an 8 p.m. showing of Spectromogic over the end of our meal. At what time would you suggest we make the PS? How hard is it to get a table on the porch? Many thanks.
I did just that, quite by accident, on Sunday, March 19 of this year. I was on a solo visit to WDW and quite frankly am not usually a parade person; but my experience at Tony's changed my perspective on parades. I loved it.
My dinner reservation was for 7:00 pm. I made the reservation without knowing about the parade starting time, which was at 8:00 that evening.
When I got there the place was quite crowded, and I waited perhaps 15 or 20 minutes before I was seated, on the porch. I did not mention any preference for seating, they just seated me there, right on the rail. I was seated just behind the CM standing by the outside podium, and watched as he turned almost a steady stream of people stoping to see if they could get in for a meal. No way without a reservation he was telling them. By the tme I got to desert, the parade was starting and I had a ring side seat.
A couple of observations I made: People with children were asked to keep their kids at their tables. The kids were not allowed to move to the rail. As I was leaving I mentioned to a CM how much I had enjoyed the parade, and asked how I rated the good table. She said that it was just that a table was ready when I was ready. A request would have made no difference.
However, I did notice that most tables were for two or four. You did not mention the size of your party, but I 'spect that might make a difference.
Enjoy.
