How to take two umbrella strollers if not using one all the time?

Hello! My husband and I will be taking our boys (7 and nearly 4) to Disney World early May. We will be staying on site at CBR and using Disney transportation. Really want to avoid taking our heavy Maclaren Triumph double especially on the buses . Does anyone have any creative ways we could have 2 umbrella strollers with us in the park and not have both open at once? I was hoping maybe there was a way to bungee or tie a folded one on the handle or across the top of the other umbrella stroller that is open? I can't see the 7 year old needing it a lot,but in a pinch for a place to sit for a snack or rest, that would be ideal. But I don't want to be pushing an empty stroller 85% of the time! He's not a big guy weighing around 40lbs so I'm sure an umbrella would hold him, at least to get to the buses if it's late at night etc. Any ideas on how to make this work? Thanks in advance!

Skip the 2nd stroller. At 7 he won't need it, and it will just be something extra to lug around. There are plenty of benches, rides, restaurants to sit and regroup, if needed.

If he is a healthy 7 year old, likely, he will need less "rest" than the adults in the group.

Yeah, I just wouldn't bring one for the 7 year old, barring any health issues. He's big enough to walk.

Just take 1 stroller. If the 7 year old needs a ride, they can take turns. The 4 year old probably won't be too big to carry for a few minutes if he doesn't want to walk while the oldest is using the stroller. The 7 year old won't need it much, the 4 year old will love to get out any chance he gets, and piggy back rides for either one shouldn't be too difficult and they would love a chance to see the World from mom or dad's shoulders. Honestly, I would consider going with no stroller at all with their ages. If the 4 year old is used to walking when you go to local zoos or even to the mall, he would most likely be okay there too. You can always rent a park stroller if you decide you need one. When we took my son at 2 1/2, we didn't take the stroller to the park on the first day because we knew he would be too excited to stay in it, the stroller stayed parked all of day 2, and he was never in it more than 50% of any other day, and that was just so we could keep up with the stroller after spending 45 minutes trying to remember where we left it the second day.

My 7 year old has asthma, which the heat can aggravate, and he has low muscle tone so he can tire a little easily. I do feel he would walk MOST of the time. My younger son is almost 4 and would be a big load to carry LOL. I understand that there's differing opinions on the right age for stroller use, but I was more looking for some creative ideas on how to bring 2 umbrella strollers and not push an empty one the whole time. I don't want the added expense of renting one or that would be my solution. Thank you all so much for your replies.

But you did not mention that your child has a disability, and a medical need for a stroller. Under typical circumstance most 7 year olds have no need of a stroller and won't use it and it wouldn't be worth the hassle of dragging a 2nd one around for most people.

However, you van buy a stroller carrying strap for about $10, I know that there are also clips that will clip 2 strollers together, like a double, but I don't know how well they will steer.

You might try Amazon.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. I didn't think to mention my son's health issues because I wasn't looking for whether or not I should bring one, just any ideas of how I could bring two with ease. I do appreciate and respect everyone's replies and feedback! Thank you again!

I remember years ago there was some kind of attachment to connect 2 umbrella strollers together. I don't recall where since my youngest will be 10 in March and I think my stroller days ended when she was 3 or 4.

I never bought the device because we just used the umbrella and the mid size stroller/light weight but still had a cup holder for me oh and my kid! Plus a basket, etc...

The connectors are pretty good. They have a hard time with inclines, or doors, etc though. They're a little awkward to push. But they served their purpose pretty well. Thankfully, our almost 4 year old twins decided they were done with strollers last month at WDW.

If one is more sturdy than the other I'd fold up the cheapo and bungee cord it to the side of the solid stroller. Shouldn't be an issue because the big buggies usually ride higher. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Maybe get a more "durable" lightweight stroller that's taller, and a cheapy for the second one?
I have a Jeep Cherokee stroller (identical to Kolcraft Cloud on Amazon, these days), and when we went on an outing with a friend, his little one walked and their little umbrella stroller easily hung off the handle of my stroller. We weren't going far, though. With a bungie cord or a tie, I think we could have secured it easily. I do remember the wheels did hit the ground as we rolled along, but they rolled too. It was 3.5 years ago when Z was a newborn, so I blame new mom goldfish brain for not remembering better.

Maybe you could rent a double from an outside agency while you're there? I also like the idea of getting a smaller double for the trip as someone mentioned above. You can toss a backpack in the second seat when your older child isn't riding. You could sell the stroller when you got home for almost as much as you paid, and your "rental" cost for the week would be really inexpensive. Or maybe find a smaller double on Craigslist cheap, and then gift it to another family when you're leaving Disney.

I'd bring the double. When dd was 6 that is what we did. You have a very nice double that pushes well. Pushing a 7 year old in a umbrella stroller is very hard to do imho. When she wasn't riding in it her seat was a catch all for water bottles, bags, ear hats etc. we tried the 2 stroller rought once and it was more work than the double overall.

It depends on how forgetful you are but you could park the extra in each land?

By the way, we did umbrella strollers with the 11 mos old and 4 year old in November and it was great! So much easier to navigate through the crowds!

I would just keep the second umbrella stroller open and push it. Then you can put your backpack or whatever else you bring into the parks in the seat. It's better to push around your bag, then carry it.

Could they share the single, with one sitting on the other for short periods even? I'm thinking all the wheels in the front would get annoying, as they would rarely want to go in the same direction all the time - especially over the textured pavement. Also, they'd be very wide, and very hard to get through lots of places. The added double structure in the middle, etc, makes it wider than a normal double.

Do you know anyone who has a regular double umbrella stroller who would let you borrow it for the trip?

I do own a double stroller but I don't want to bring it on and off the buses. I think I'm going to take two umbrellas and just push the open one if necessary. Thank you all for your advice and replies. I can't wait to go! 71 days and counting :)

I was going to say just park it in the spots as you venture around and take it when you go to the next area. I would park behind the castle around the carousel...kind of a central spot.

If you don't like the idea of parking it for later, you could use the extra one for bags and souvenirs or anything you don't want to carry. We have three kids, and we bring the umbrella stroller and the double for them. When someone is up walking and doesn't want to ride, we use the empty one for bags.
