How to switch rooms online?

I have a 3 night stay reserved and looking to change resorts if/when a better room is available. I found a room today but when I called they had to release my room and by the time they tried for the new room it was gone. Luckily my original reservation is at SS so we could rebook.

Anyone have better luck stalking the website? Not sure if there is a trick to changing rooms

one drawback is we have used our 2017 points and don't want to book a new room by borrowing

any help is appreciated

I think the only way to do it is cancel your existing reservation and then make the new one.... hoping that in the time it took you to do that the new reservation didn't disappear.

The advantage to doing it on the phone is they can make the change by making the new one and canceling the old one simultaneously.

I do it on line most of the time because sometimes those available nights happen after they close. So if I find the rooms I grab them so nobody else gets them, I then log in on my phone if Im holding them in my lap top. I then cancel what I have with my phone, wait a few minutes to continue with the new rooms since you got 20 minutes to complete and by that time I can see the cancelled points. So far so good. I read this tip somewhere a while back. I hope it helps. I know that when I call them they are also telling that they hope that they can make the change before those rooms are gone. Good luck!

When I called DVC they had to release my current reservation and try for the new one. Luckily I have SS so it was still available. I would of been mad if it was something hard to get and they lost it for me.

There is a 2-browser method for re-booking when you have an existing reservation. It has always worked for me BUT if the website is being quirky, you risk losing both your original reservation AND the new one.

It basically works like this:

• Open two different browser (like Chrome and Firefox).
• Log into your DVC account on each of them.
• On the first browser (I recommend Chrome because it is less prone to problems with Disney websites), go thru the booking process all the way thru "Borrow Vacation Points". Click on that button and STOP!. Do not complete the transaction but keep the borrowing window open.
• Now, switch to the other browser and pull up your current reservation under My Vacations. Cancel the reservation.
• Return to the first browser. Click "Cancel" on the borrowing window. The points from you old reservation should now be visible and you can continue the reservation without borrowing.

As long as something doesn't go awry on the website in the final steps of booking, you should have your new reservation without having to borrow points to do it. Good Luck!
