Hi I am currently a freshman at Plymouth State University. I really want to do the Disney College program next spring or summer. I would love to be a lifeguard at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. I am First Aid, CPR/AED, and water safety instructor (WSI) certified.

My major is Biological Sciences Education so if I can't get a job as a lifeguard I would love to do something at Living with the Seas at Epcot whether its working with the animals or giving live animal presentations, I'm up for anything.

I have been lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons for 3 years at my local YMCA and I volunteered at the New England Aquarium in the education department for 3 years. So, I have a little bit of experience with talking to visitors and giving live animal presentations. :teacher:

Is there anyway to just do the college program for just a summer?

When should I apply for the college program for the spring?

Is there a job I could do at living with the seas or would that be considered an internship?

Thanks!

Jenn

Hey Jenn!

Just to let you know, there is a process and training for all Lifeguards that work at the resort. I don't know the exact details, but it is typical lifeguard training where you are required to swim several lengths of the pool and retrieve a weight from the bottom.

Currently, there is no way to complete the College Program in just a summer unless you are an Alumni of the College Program. Your best bet if you want to work during the Summer is the Fall Program.

The applications for the College Program Spring/Spring Advantage 2013 will be up late August or early September, and you want to keep an eye on the Disney College Program Twitter (@DisneyCPInterns), and the Disney College Program Facebook page as those are the first lines of communication that the program has opened. Several users on here also find out the exact time, the closer we get.

As for Living with the Seas, I do not know the answer to that question. My guess would be a professional internship, as that is not a typical CP position.

Best of luck, and Have a Magical Day! :smickey:
