Our family of 5 will be in the world for 10 nights and we'd like to spread some pixie dust while we're there. How have you done or received this in the past from sources other than CM/Disney? How do you decide who will receive it?

It will be DW and I, DS8, DS2 and DM. No dining plan.

Thanks.

We buy Mylar balloons for our kids to enjoy during our trips, and at the end of the trip, we find little ones to give our balloons to before we fly home. (The balloons are expensive, but, if they pop, Disney will replace them for free!) As far as deciding, the kids pick someone, generally a peer.

Everyone with a Celebrating XXXXXX button on will elicit a response from us. Happy Birthday! Happy Anniversary! Welcome to Disney on your First trip! Probably they think we're nutters, but, special things deserve recognition.

Love these, thanks.

We have shared our glow bracelets with kids around us before. But please be careful of who you approach and approach the adult first and not the child. I teach my children not to take things from strangers.

We do this too, last time the mother didn't really speak English so it took her a minute to understand we were giving her son the balloon for free.

We also take lots of glow bracelets and my DD shares them with the little ones around us while waiting for nighttime parades or fireworks to start. We've done this many times and she has never received anything but smiles and thanks from children and parents.

I have done a few things. Last time we were there, we purchased 2 autograph books (it was a buy 2 special) and we only needed one. While we were sitting at Crystal Palace, we saw a little girl who was there for the first time (wearing the button) and was with her grandparents (whom looked a little overwhelmed). We went over and offered her the book and pen before the characters started going around. You should have seen the smile on that little girls face. They didn't know that you got a personal interaction with each character. They were so happy. My daughter smiled all day because she did something nice for someone. We also hand out extra glow bracelets at night time parades.

We got some stickers from SmileMakers -- those nice big ones you get at the doctor's or dentist's. We handed them out randomly and folks were thrilled. It was right after Frozen came out and we had Frozen ones. I think oftentimes the CMs and character handlers were more thrilled with the stickers than some of the kids! We donated the extras we had left then to the local children's hospital.

So enjoyed the time before FP+ when we often had a FP or two left that we could share when we were ready to leave the park but sadly though these days are gone. We have shared glow sticks, given away the sealed pack of fruit or cookies that sometime come with CS meals, let a child go ahead or get behind us in order to get the color ride vehicle they want, let a little one join us in our "space" for the parades and assisted people in carrying trays etc

I like to bring extra glow bracelets & necklaces to the park each month as a budget-friendly alternative to all of the Disney glo-items. My kids enjoy offering them to other kids without glowing items at night and it makes a lot of kids (and possibly their budgeted parents) really happy :)

We have done the balloon thing.

We didn't do it, but it happened to us - a family ran over to my kids dolled up from the BBB and made a big fuss about them being princesses and asked for their autograph! After the initial shyness and shock wore off, they loved it!

I had a poncho, but the weather cooperated and I didn't need to use it. I didn't want to take it home, so as I left the hotel I gave it to someone in the check-in line. She understood when I said that having it might mean that it wouldn't rain. She said she would pay it forward.

This happened to my son and he was so happy! I explained the concept of pixie dusting and he passed the ballon on when we left the park. Such a great moment and lesson!

I love this concept and this idea thread! Taking down ideas and making notes so I can spread some pixie dust too!
