How to Split Reservations

I'm getting close to my ADR date. In the past I've always been making reservations for a party of 4. Since our last trip, I've had a baby and we will also be having my in-laws join us, so I will need to make reservations for a party of 7. I understand that it may make more sense with some restaurants to book 2 ADRs close together in times, one for 3, and one for 4. However, in the past, I've never been able to make overlapping dining reservations without it forcing me to cancel one of them. It does this before even asking who's going, otherwise I would think I could just put different people on each one. How do y'all with experience booking for larger parties get around this?

You need to log in with someone else’s MDE account that is in your group. When you make the first reservation it will list you. Don’t add the others in your party to that reservation. Leave it set to the generic “guest”. Then log on with the second MDE account (spouse.) and make the other reservation. I did it this morning with no issues using my IPad and phone.

I was able to split my party of 12 by changing the name of the person who will be managing the reservation to someone other than myself on the first reservation and then going back in and making another reservation at the same time or close to the same time with me as the lead guest. I did this all from my account on the website on my computer and phone not on the app.

As above, just put the different name on the first one, then make the second one with your name.
