How to spend time between 1900 dinner & Electrical Water @ Grand Floridian

On our arrival day we have dinner reservation at 1900 Park Fare @ 7:50 and I was thinking about staying to view the Electrical Water Pageant @ 10:35. We are staying at All Star Movies, traveling with our 4 and 9 year old daughters and this is our first Disneyworld visit. Is it worth our time to stay for the EWP? If it is, does anyone have recommendations on how we could spend our time waiting? Are there any activities or entertainment offered at Grand Floridian that is available to guest not staying at the resort?

I would do the dock or beach of grand or poly then take the boat or mono to MK and bus back to your resort.

You can walk over to the Beach pool area and see the EWP at 9 pm. We had a room in Big Pine Key which faced the Poly and we watched the EWP from our balcony. The view from the GF beach pool area isn't a perfect view but it is good enough. The music is loud enough to hear from the beach pool.

I don't think you'll have as much time as you think. 1900 Park Fare commonly runs behind.

We had a perfect view from the boat to Magic Kingdom dock. There are a few benches there. But you may not have time from your seating to walk out there. Is the park open past 10:00 the night you are planning to watch? If not, then it will just go dark after it goes past the Contemporary.

We just returned from the GF. The Beach showing was 8:50. Then it stops for Fireworks. You can see the MK fireworks on the boat dock. There's music from Narcosses (although sound is better in front of Gaspirilla). As soon as fireworks conclude, the electrical parade starts up again. 9:15. You can only see it from the dock - not from Gaspirilla. It's very short. Cute and retro, but no need to plan around. So, you never need to leave GF. :thumbsup2

Unless there is a movie showing, there will be nothing going on at GF to entertain you for 1 1/2 hours. I would check what times the EWP will appear at Poly and try to catch it there. That way you can hop on the monorail from GF and tour CR and Poly before the show (Poly is gorgeous). You can then monorail to MK and get a bus back to your resort.

What am I missing? EWP stops at the GF at 9:15 (really 9:18ish if fireworks are at 9PM). I'd say there's a chance you might still be in the restaurant at that point. ???

I guess I could be wrong on the above but I thought that was the case?

If your ADR is for 750p and everything is running to schedule I'd say you'll probably do at least 45 minutes for dinner. With photo ops etc, I'd say that's the least amount of time you'd spend. Then it's a short-ish walk to the viewing areas. I don't think you'll have a lot of down time between the two.

Thank you everyone! I didn't realize viewing at this location began at 9:15, I'm so happy I found out! I just saw the start time as 10:35 and assumed that it started at this time and it would arrive at other locations after this starting time. Now instead of finding things to spend time on I'm thinking we might end up missing it!

Not to tinker with your plans, but if you're at the GF around fireworks time, you might want to try to see them if you can. Might not be important in your plan, but if it appeals to you at all, the view from GF is :thumbsup2

This is our first time at DW but when we've been to Disneyland and Hong Kong Disney my absolute favorite things are the parades and the fireworks. We only have 2 day park hopper tickets this trip so any extra chance to see fireworks would be awesome!!!! Unfortunately it looks like fireworks are scheduled for 8:00 this night (Sept 27th) so we will miss them :( Maybe I can sneak out for a bit ::yes::

After the EWP and HEA from the dock, I'd ride the monorail to MK.

The view from the Highway in the Sky of the EWP as it goes through the 7 Seas Lagoon is so magical. pixiedust:
