I will be taking (our first trip!) my three sons ages 14, 13, and 7 to the world the June 28-July 7 (8 full days). I was wondering how many days we should schedule for each park? I have heard AK needs only one day to see everything. We do have park hopper passes. We will kinds go with the flow when we get there, but I would like to make a loose plan to go by before we go. What do you suggest?

Hi! Your first trip how exciting!! I am assuming you mean June - July 2006. If so, did you make any ADRs at restaurants that you may want to try? Since you are going to be there during a busy time (summer and the 4th of July) you should have atleast a few ADR's planned so you do not get turned away for meals. I usually start with those and then plan the parks around those.

To answer your question: I would think for the first trip planning 2 full days at MK and Epcot each would be good. Atleast 1.5, maybe 2 at MGM because of the show times etc. and 1 day at AK sounds good. Since you have teenage boys, are you planning to hit one of the water parks? If so, most people say during that time of year, plan to go early for they get really crowded or some suggest go later in the day after many people leave. In fact, we will be there July2-10th and right now I can not seem to fit a water park in early in the day, but I keep trying. ;)

I am sure others will have more and better advice for you. Just make sure you plan some afternoon breaks at the pool or resting as the humidity and heat will be strong at that time. Hope this helps somewhat. Enjoy and have a GREAT TRIP!!! :thumbsup2

2 days each for MK and EP.
1 day each for MGM and AK
Leaves 2 more days to catch something you missed, or go back to another park.

Whichever park you choose on the 4th, you'll likely have to go back. Epcot handles crowds the best.

I agree....you could always go to a waterpark on one extra day...or take a rest day at spend it at DTD and see a movie at AMC 24.

Plan on 2 days each at Epcot and MK. If you're staying on property take advantage of extra magic hours (evenings are great - especially with teens!) so you don't have to worry about hitting those rides during peak tmes.

MGM is small, so if you plan your show times right, you could do that in 1 day. AK could be done in a day too. Again, if you stay on property, extra magic hours are worth it. Also, use fastpass and you should be able to hit everything you want.

That leaves you with two days. You could do a water park and downtown Disney day (your kids might enjoy Disney Quest), or you could use those two days to explore the other recreation that Disney offers beyond the parks.

Hope this helps!

We are in the same situation, having 8 days. I think it will work out perfectly. We're going to do one day at AK, one at MGM, and two each at Epcot and MK. Then we'll have two days to redo anything we want to do again, catch things we missed, or do all the shopping in the parks that we didn't have time for along the way.

Thanks for your advice. We are staying at POR and have our ADR done for all nights there, to include the fantasmic dinner package and hoop-de-doo-revue. We weren't planning on going to a waterpark, but who knows? I think the suggestion of going to DTD is a good one since I think we can take a boat from POR to DTD. I was thinking MK on July 3 for their fireworks show, and Epcot on July 4 for theirs. We are so excited to be within the 30 day count down!!!!

1 day AK, or park hop in the early am to ride EE then head somewhere else.
2 day MK
2 day Epcot
2 day MGM...I love MGM we spend multipule portions of many days there during our trips...

Remember to drink lots of water it is hot that week.

Same here...my kiddos (12, 14 and 37 :teeth: ) LOVED MGM. It was the one park that we went to multiple times.

Because your going at a busy & hot time, your wait on lines for rides will probably be a little long so you might not see all you want in 1 day. Its a great thing that you got the Park Hopper. I agree w/ the one day for AK, but since it closes earlier then the other parks, you can go to the AK early and maybe at night see which parks are open for Extra Magic Hours and take advantage of that (if your staying on property).
Are you going to be taking your sons to Universal Studios?? If so, you might need two days, again its all depending on the crowds and line waits.. If your lukcy you can def do Universal in 1 day. :)
8 days is wonderful, Just enjoy it, take your time and if your staying on property take advantage of the Extra Hours.
:) :) HAVE FUN :) :)

We do 2 days at MK, 2 at Epcot, 1 at AK, 1 at MGM, then the other 2 for whatever park we want to go back to. Our days are split into half-days with a nap in between, but it works out the same.
