How to spend 6 days with a 5 year old?

I need some advice about where we should spend our time. This will be our almost 5-year-old DS' first trip to Disney. We are staying at the CBR for 7 nights so we will have 6 full days at the parks. Here is what I have tentatively planned so far.

Arrive Sat afternoon -- probably just hang at the hotel since MK is only open until 7:00, or maybe hit Epcot WS or MG for a few hours

Sunday -- MK

Monday -- MGM

Tuesday -- pirate cruise at CBR in morning, ???? in afternoon

Wednesday -- Epcot

Thursday -- AK

Friday -- ?????

I was planning on two days at MK but now that DS is doing the pirate cruise on Tues morning, I was thinking we could go back to MK for the rest of Tuesday. Will 1 1/2 days at MK be enough?

That leaves Friday open for a second day at one of the other parks. What is our best bet for that day? I know we could play it by ear and see which one DS likes the best but I'd like to make an ADR for dinner so it would be good to have some idea of where we might want to be that day.

Note: We will not have the Park Hopper option.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Which parks have the most fun stuff for 4 or 5 year olds?

Is there a pirate cruise from Caribbean Beach? I thought it was only YC/BC or the GF?

Yes, there is a new Pirates Cruise at CBR, I'm not sure when it will be open. There is a thread on the boards regarding this new activity, I'm sure a search will find it.

Audrey, I would strongly suggest that you have a "down" day. Every child is different, but it has been our experience that a five year old will be pretty exhausted and meltdown prone by the fourth or fifth day in the parks. Why not relax after the Pirates Cruise and hang out at the pool at the resort in the afternoon or take a nice boat ride (they have marina at CBR, right?). You can go to DTD for a nice dinner that night. That way, the kid can be recharged for the rest of your trip.

Just a suggestion.

Last year we went and my dd was 5 and ds 4. By far MK is their favorite park. When we did MGM & AK, they just didnt compare in their eyes.

Dont overload the kids by trying to fill every last minute....a pool day would be great. Let them set the pace and you follow. You will all have a wonderful vacation.

Thanks for the thoughts. We do plan to take a break in the middle of the day and come back to the hotel, go to the pool, etc. and then go back to the park late afternoon/evening. So hopefully that will give DS (and us!) a break and get us recharged for the evening.

Maybe we'll leave Tuesday afternoon open and play that by ear and plan to do a second day of MK on Friday for our last day.

About the pirate cruise at CBR, I called this morning and the dining reservations folks (WDW-DINE) didn't know anything about it. So I called the CBR and the woman at the main desk did not know about it either but she transferred me to the Barefoot Bay Marina and I was able to book it through them. In fact he said that is the only way you can book it. I think their number is 407-934-2850 but if that doesn't work call CBR (407-934-3400) and ask to be transferred to the marina. They only do the pirate cruises at CBR on Tuesdays, from 9:30 - 11:30. It costs $30. HTH!
