Okay so after reading different guidebooks, etc I am curious how important is it to follow suggestions as to which parks to go to on what day for there to be less crowds. My DH and I are going December 1-8th. Do we have to be super stringent? Obviously we will be making some ADRs so we will have tentative plans but how much does one park on a given day matter especially with EMHs.

Any advice would be much appreciated

A general rule of thumb, avoid parks that have morning or evening EMH. If a park hs EMH at night, it's probably a good choice to go to the following morning.

Other than that, arrive at the park gates (not the parking lots) at least 30 minutes before opening, cruise through the parks in the mornings while the lines are smaller, and take an early afternoon break at your resort and let the crowds fight amongst themselves during the hottest part of the day. Then head back in the evening to catch a show, or fireworks, etc, where crowds aren't as big a deal, or alternatively, while everyone is watching Spectro, or Wishes, or Illuminations, etc., go on the rides with like 5 minute waits.

What I do is first print out the parade and evening show schedules. Some aren't shown everyday. So I make a note of it to make sure I'm in that park for that day. Then I do look at the EMH's. We tend NOT to hit the parks on these morning or evenings. However we do like to hit an evening EMH @ MK once. I know it may sound like I plan which park for which day but I really don't. We love to park hop so we tend to start a day at one park and then hop over to another later in the day. You are going at a very good time. I don't think you will have to worry so much about how crowded each park will be because of EMH. It's fun to just get up in the morning and pick a park then. Or head to the bus stop and get on the first bus that arrives. Have a great trip.

I always go to Mk the first morning unless your first morning is Saturday, personally I always find saturday the most crowded at MK. Now this year it is EMH for the first night we are there so we will go to MK for morning and if it starts to get crowded we will leave and go to another park. After that we usually go to the park that had EMH the night before and I avoid EMH in the mornings.

I'm a fan of EMH mornings. I can get so much done in a short amount of time.

I based my schedule on EMH mornings, Spectro/Wishes showings and if applicable, special events like MNSSHP/MVMCP/CP. I also avoid EMH evenings.

Once I see the EMH days and Spectro/Wishes showings I go from there. I also avoid MK on Saturday (except if it's the ONLY showing of Spectro/Wishes). I try and get to MK ASAP at the beginning of my trip.

In terms of EMH, personally I do the EMH for Animal Kingdom because if you do the Killamajaro Safari ride first, you can do it 3 times or more in a row without waiting. For some reason, early in the morning, it seems that more animals are out and the wait is less than 10 minutes. Usually with the EMH at Animal Kingdom are great and with that you can do Animal Kingdom in a half a day.

Sometimes just for fun we get on the 1st Park bus that comes to our bus stop ... Then the day is just spontaneous... although I am usually an obsessive planner... :sunny:
