:dancer:I need HELP!! Ok, here is the plan, we want to go in October..my parents were going to fly and stay with us. My parents are not going to any of the parks, but staying at the hotel to help and watch our 3 and 5 year old, while my dh and I go to parks at night..so WHERE do we stay???.
I would love to stay at a monorail resort, btw, did I tell you we were paying for my parents to stay?? should we stay at a monorail resort and save $$ by putting my parents in a value, I don't know, that doesn't sound like the best most convienent way of doing things and I want my parents to ENJOY their stay and don't want them to feel like the "help". I love to plan, but also get anxious when looking for the best most economical choice..you know the old saying I have champagne taste but I'm on a beer budget!!!
How would you work this, I need the professionals to come in and take over...lol:)

If a luxury resort is in your budget, why not think about one of the DVC properties? You could either rent (from an owner) or pay for a two-bedroom unit that would give you lots of space. In addition, both sets of adults would have their own bathroom (a major plus, IMHO!), there is a washer/dryer in every unit as welll as a Jacuzzi in the master suite and a full kitchen in which you could prepare basic meals (breakfast, for example) and snacks. There are many properties to choose from.

Or you could book a suite at All-Star Movies that would give you some extra space and a small kitchenette. Or book connecting rooms at one of the value or moderate resorts. Lots of choices!! Think about what section of WDW you think you'll be visiting most often and choose a resort that works for your budget. Epcot - Beach Club/Yacht Club/Boardwalk or Dolphin/Swan. MK - the monorail resorts or Wildnerness Lodge. Consider the moderates -- less pricey than the luxury resorts, but more space than the values which is often a good compromise. Check out MouseSavers for discount codes. Get a feel for the price levels of each level of resort and how they work for your budget. Check out package deals that include tickets.

have you thought about getting connecting rooms at a mod resort like POR etc. That way your folks can have a room and you will have a separate room and the kids will have the run of the two (if that make sense)

Resorts like the GF and the Poly sound good but at a mod you will still have a nice resort and save some money.

POR and POFQ have a boat that runs to DTD as well as the buses.

Since your parents are coming specifically to help you with the kids, IMHO it's a must that you all be in the same resort, preferably with connecting rooms, or at least adjoining rooms.

Being that you're footing the bill for both rooms, a Moderate might be more comfy for your wallet. The four WDW Mods are all beautiful places, with peaceful, relaxing atmospheres, good dining options, and larger rooms than the Values.

I suggest two rooms at either Port Orleans Riverside, or Port Orleans French Quarter. Check out both resorts and see if they appeal to you, and to your parents. They both have good pools, nice restaurants and food courts, and beautiful grounds. They're also the closest Mods to the MK area, and are fairly close to Downtown Disney, too.

Transportation at the Mods is limited to buses, except for the boat from POR and POFQ that goes to Downtown Disney. Since you have two small kids and four adults, I also suggest biting the bullet and renting a car. A mid-size will probably do the trick. Rental rates for October are sky-high right now, but I expect them to come down later in the summer; at lease, I hope they will, since my upcoming trip is in late October, too! Having a rental car will give you a lot more flexibility, make getting the kids and their strollers back and forth a lot easier, and allow you to try off-site destinations for shopping and dining, too. It's also a HUGE time-saver, since you'll probably be leaving the parks each day to take the kids back to the resort, then return to teh parks for some Mommy and Daddy time.
