How to plan for 2007?

We will be doing spring break in 2007 over Easter weekend (yikes :scared: ) at either WL or Poly. I learned that I can reserve the room for a 1 nights rack room deposit until the actual 2007 rates come out. I have a few questions. First of all, is that correct? Secondly, how hard is it to get discounts during a popular time like Easter week/spring break? This year we went to WL (deluxe room) - booked it in Jan. and could not get any discounts, even through AAA. Will booking further in advance increase my chances of a discount? Will I get a better deal with AAA or with a TA? OK, I guess that probably exhausts my limit of "a few" - any help is much appreciated!

Further in advance might give you a shot at the AAA discount, but you can pretty much assume that there will not be anything else for Easter week.

I would like to know this also. I am subscribing. I called to try to book a trip for January and was told they do not have the rates yet. Anyone know when the rates for 2007 will be available?

I Have booked a room only ressie for January 07. I used Melissa @ Magical Journeys, since our dates are during the marathon I know the rooms go quick and didn't want to not get them.

I paid a deposit, based on the 06 "standard" season rate, I was also able to make payments on my room package so that when it does convert maybe it won't hurt as much :teeth: . When the 07 rates & packages come out Melissa will convert my package and get me the AAA rate. I am actually going in Value season so my estimated rate should go down somewhat.

I don't know the history of discounts for your time frame, but you might try doing a search and see what you can find out. Iknow somewhere there is a "historical" discount info page, but I really couldn't tell where I saw it.

Happy planning

We are also going March 2007. I booked "room-only" ressie thru our local AAA office and was told the '07 rates were expected to be released mid to late May. Once the rates come out, our AAA agent said she would switch them over to a package(we are adding tickets and dining plan). I am not holding out any hope for discounts given the time of year and since I want to take advantage of the AAA diamond card/parking pass and other AAA perks, I am not going to bother getting tickets from another broker(which I have done in the past and saved some money).

Have fun planning your trip!! :sunny:

In Easter 2003, I called in March for a Value Resort-Perferred Room and CRO didn't have any available, but they said they could give me a room at CSR or POR Riverside for that amount. So my husband and dd got 4 nights at POR for $119. I think in 2004 there was a code. This year they just gave extra's to your MYW tickets-no codes over Easter.

Rack rates for POFQ 2006 is $199 a nite, by next year Rack will probably be $215, so I am going with $199 a nite for my budget. Otherwise I was thinking of maybe a DD hotel for 1/2 the cost of POFQ and renting a car. I heard Disney Transportation is so busy, it would be better to have your own transportation.

You can definitely book rooms right now, at least through Disney. I called this past weekend and a very pushy, very longwinded agent tried to get me to book some very expensive rooms for January.

My travel agent at AAA, however, said that rates will not be up until June or early July at the latest. Hopefully PKWallaby's agent is right and they'll be out sooner!

We have rack rate for CSR Easter weeek 2007.
I was told Nov or Dec for AAA rates to come out from WDW.
Then maybe no AP rates - high/busy season for WDW - that is why we are
doing a moderate and not our beloved deluxe.

But CSR gets great reviews - so I am sure we will not be disappointed in the pool or buses (maybe just the double beds, no balcony and open closet).

Our next best would be the Dolphin teacher rate if it can come down to about $159 or less.

We are still working on our June 2006 adventure. I can not think of looking for discounts for WDW yet. I am still waiting for AP rates for end of June :rotfl:

Just called CRO and booked POFQ for Standard @ $185 a nite, with tax it comes to $206. This is Wednesday, April 4-8. On Sunday 8th thru 12 I got BWV for $160 by renting points.

I sure hope some kind of discount comes out for Peak Season over Easter.

CRO told me to buy my park tickets now, (she said a big price increase is coming with park tickets) but if I want to buy the package to not buy 1 ticket incase a good package deal comes out or I want dining added on.

We're going down for Easter 2007. I plan to book a dining package as soon as the AAA rates are released.

We were able to use a general code during our Easter 2004 trip. I have a feeling the days of the great codes are over. :guilty:

AAA won't give us a huge discount, but every bit helps.

My family and I are planning on doing WDW on April 2007. This is our first time. Is it possible for Pop reservations to be sold out so soon? Can I book now and possibly make changes to my reservations without a penalty?

Hi I am new here - I booked our first trip to WL last month on the disney phone line - I am a AAA member - should I cancel that reservation and go THROUGH the AAA person?? I thought I could apply any discount later - can I apply a AAA discount through the Disney phone system? I am currently booked at rack rate and have paid for one night, so far. This is for January 2007

You can book now and make changes if you need to.

Pop Century may become sold out for certain weeks, but I don't think that will happen any time soon.

When is your trip?

I'm going to book with AAA after Labor Day. (as soon as I get home from our summer trip :woohoo: ) When they release 2007 package rates, I'll switch room only to a package.

We have already booked ressies for Jan 07 at OKW(2BR villa). The ressies were booked with 2006 rates, however we received a letter this week with the changes according to the 2007 rates, beleive it or not they went DOWN!! :thumbsup2

Mine went down slightly also, but our "season" is also the least expensive of them all so that even with the price increases overall the change from standard to value got me back about $90 :thumbsup2

I'm going to reserve our rooms at POR for the last week in May 2007 right now and then hope for a discount. I'm prepared to pay rack but I really really really don't want to. :) I'm curious about the AAA question also. We're not members now but have considered it. If a discount comes out for our dates, I'd definitely join to get it. Could I still get it thru CRO or would I need to cancel that ressie and go thru AAA?

Hi. I am new here. I have a dumb question, what are rack rates and what are all of these codes people talk about all of the time? :confused3 Can someone please explain? Is this some kind of discount that you get when you book through a TA? Thanks :wizard:

Rack rates is a term that all hotels use to represent their highest rate for a room - what they HOPE to get. So the rack rate might be 300 dollars. Usually if it is a time when they need more bookings, they start to discount the rates and give you "specials". AAA also offers its members discounts at most hotels in the nation - other groups you belong to might offer a lower rate. The sunday paper in your area may have lower special offers or cheaper packages. The rack rate is the starting point and you should try not to pay it!

A travel agent can help you find discounts, or sometimes can get a block of rooms at a lower rate.

Codes are just numbers you give when you make your reservation or change it that tell the hotel that you are part of some special group. Disney might mail you a code to your house (keep your fingers crossed). It will just be a bunch of numbers and letters. It could get you a special like "250" a night (on your 300 dollar room) or a percentage off. Newspapers and websites sometimes get codes too.

I am still wondering about the AAA question. Do you have to book through AAA to get the AAA discount? ANyone??

I booked "room only" for May 30- June 7, 2007 at the beginning of February. I'm also waiting for the 2007 AAA packages to be released so I can switch our "room only" over to a package. Disney just had to go and add the new "summer season" so my rate will unfortunately go up.
I hope the packages are released soon because the waiting is driving me crazy but if it's like last year it will be at the end of June.
