Coming from New York.

We're flying into San Francisco, then working our way down, stopping in: Cambria (1 night), Santa Barbara (1 night), Los Angeles (2 nights/3 days), Disneyland (2 nights), San Diego (2 nights, 3 days).

I feel like layering is going to be key. Planning on doing jeans, tees, hoodies/jackets, and Long-sleeve shirts for nicer nights.

I think you have the right idea but I would make sure to bring one really warm coat if you’re doing any later evening outings outside. Last year when we were there we weren’t prepared for how cold it got as we’re Oregonians and used to the cold—thought we’d be fine. Totally regretted it. But I guess it depends on when you’re going.

Here are the weather sites I keep an eye when I am about to pack for a trip.

^^^^^^ THIS!

Of course, it is all dependent on when your trip is. I went this last January, and despite coming from Oregon, I was still freezing. I actually was wearing gloves and a beanie with my parka 3 of my 4 days. It was an uncommonly cold winter for the LA area--30ºs in the mornings and over night.

The OP will be visiting CA at the end of the year and into the beginning of Jan. So, layers and a good jacket will be welcome.

Lol. Oregonians there last January and we’re just flabbergasted at how cold it was! We’re flying in on the 1st and are all wearing warm coats on to the plane! Lesson learned!

I have a trip at the end of January. Hoping I paid my "dues" with last year's weather!

Where in Oregon are you? We're outside of Salem.

I'm from SF, and was a bit shocked that it was so much colder at DL than at home. I packed a lot of warm clothes, but there were a few nights where I was wearing multiple layers of pants and long sleeved shirts with a hoodie.

I think the big difference is that I don't spend hours outdoors at home during the winter. The cold quickly penetrates when you've been outdoors for that long.

On the flip side, your trip is a long one, and the weather reports on the west coast are only reliable a few days out. Make sure you have at least one backup outfit for warm weather in case there's an unseasonably warm day. I saw a family in the park the other day desperately trying to find shorts, because they were from a colder climate and 70 degrees was way too hot for them.

We are coming from Springfield in February. We usually wear shorts and T shirts during the day this time of year but typically a sweatshirt at night. Weather seems to be odd this year however so who knows.

It's currently mid 40s at night, which is fine if you're just going from a store or restaurant to your car to your garage, but it's really cold if you're outside for several hours. Don't forget your hats and gloves.

Stayton scio area......bring socks and flip flogs if riding on Chickapin or Grizzly, plus a towel to wipe the seat and sit on, ponchos. There will be no nicer nights so no need for ts. just returned and I wore a long sleeve fleece all day over a heavy polo, pushing a wheelchair from one end of Disneyland to the other, in fast mode when following behind other strollers or wheelchairs.. The kids coming out of Mt. Angel never took off their October coats. When I returned at night, I had a 4x thicker fleece and heavy hat and big pockets to stuff my hands into.

I live in the bay area - expect cold and damp weather. It's the damp that makes 50 degrees feel like freezing. I'd throw in a pair of gloves and a beanie hat on top of what you are planning.
I'm also a fan of wool socks - keep your feet warm.

Definitely bring a warm coat. It was very chilly in the mornings and at night this past weekend.

You'll want at least one warm jacket + hats/gloves/scarves for the evenings - the days might be in the 60-70 range but the nights get cold early. Also make sure you pack for rain as it's the wetter time of year

If you have a down jacket...take it. Better than a big coat. When the sun goes down it cools off fast. We get a big locker every morning and put our coats, mitts, toques and drop off anything we pick up during the day.

o whatever reason it wouldn’t let me reply to you the other day. We are in Seaside!
