 HI!
Just wondering how to pack for our first December trip to WDW. We arrive 12/26 & leave 1/1/05.

Can you wear shorts during the day? T-shirts?
At nite will you need a sweatshirt or a warmer jacket?
I do plan to pack jeans....what about cropped pants?

I am trying my best to not overpack...have to say though...something I am totally guilty of!:) LOL

Thanks for the help!

My best advise is to overpack, LOL! :teeth:

I have been to WDW the past 4 Decembers in a row, and the weather has really varied a great deal. Some years I have been able to wear shorts and t-shirts during the day, and other years I have had to wear long pants, a jacket and gloves. Almost all the evenings are pretty cool once the sun goes down, so I would definitely bring long pants for the evenings. Layers are really helpful so you can add/remove clothing as it changes temperature. Sorry I can't be more help--the December weather is pretty unpredictable! Also, don't trust the forecast. The forecast for our last trip had the highs in the mid 60's, but a cold front came through and the highs were in the mid 40's instead! (that was unseasonably cold though, so don't worry about that).

You need everything you listed plus I would throw in a pair of gloves. The weather really varies during the month of December. One day you will be in shorts & t-shirts or even hanging out at the pool. And bam a cold front moves in overnight and you need jeans, coat & gloves.

My best advice....bring a little of everything.

We were in WDW in December of '02 and during the day, we wore T-shirts & shorts (or sometimes jeans on cooler days). But at night, it was COLD, so we wore jeans, sweatshirts & jackets. In fact, I even ended up buying another sweatshirt because it was so cold at night.

Uuuugggghhhhh!!!! Packing for December sucks. We have been during Christmas week, and lately the first week of December. As ead said.....PACK EVERYTHING!!!! Shorts and short sleeve shirts (including bathing suits), pants and long sleeve shirts/sweaters......even the winter jacket. Coming from NY we usually have a winter jacket with us when travelling in December, else we'd freeze getting to the airport.....and we've needed them in WDW, especially when we were there during Christmas week. That trip there were nights below freezing and days it didn't get out of the 40's. Of course, on the same trip it was 70 degrees one day and warm enough for the pool. First week of December is a little better, usually getting several pool-worthy 70+ degree days, but boy those nights at MVMCP can get cold.

Yup, packing for December really stinks......but it's worth it.

There really isn't anyway to predict how warm/cold it will be in Florida this year. Last year in Jan. I was home (Tampa) from Germany and it was warm enough during most days for Shorts and Capris and cooler at night. That being said one of the first years DH and I were together, must have been 91, we went to Disney and it was Frigid during Dec! We went to a living Nativity they had at DTD and it was so cold and I remember thinking about how the performers were dressed in gowns and robes...burr they must have been freezing!

The best advice I have is to check the weather before you leave but regardless bring a jacket, jeans and sweatshirts. Even when it says cool weather I also always bring shorts ...just incase I get lucky:D

WOW!! Thanks everyone! I didn't think we would need bathing suites...but I guess it can never hurt to throw one in the bag.

Layers it is! And gloves...have to say...didn't think of that. Boy, I have a lot to get together.

Guess I will just have to OVERPACK as usual!!!:teeth:
My husband it just going to laugh at me as usual too! Because I always say....this trip I am NOT going to overpack! Oh Well right....;)

Can't wait...all the packing will be worth it!!!!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Would you pack just couple pair of jeans for the whole stay (5 days)? Would capri pants be sufficient? What about sweatshirts...how many did you take?

Like the OP I don't want to overpack but I want to be prepared as well. This is our first December trip so I'm clueless.

I would definitely pack bathing suits. Our trip last year ran Dec 1-9, and we got in 3 days of swimming, and probably could have done more if we didn't have alternate plans. There were two days in the 60s, but the rest of the time mid-high 70s.

For 5 days, just adults, I would probably pack 2-3 pairs of jeans, if the weather says 60's or above at least 2 pair of shorts, assuming you will layer your sweatshirts with t-shirts under I would pack 2. Really you can wear of pair of jeans more than one day if you don't sweat much. Plus I rather through a pair in the wash than to pack too much and not have room for souveiners to bring home!

I plan to pack only a couple of pairs of jeans. I will wear a pair on the plane with a sweatshirt. I figure only 2 pairs of shorts.

Everything mix & match. But I still overpack! LOL:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

oh my husband is gonna love this trip..overpack is my middle name!!! :D

We always go in December and this is what I do
3-4 days before my departure I go to weather.com
put in zip 32830
You will get a good 10 day forecast. It has always been very accurate for me except sometimes they have called for rain when it didn't rain. The highs/lows are pretty accurate.

We have worn shorts in the day but the nighttime does get colder and pants/sweatshirts are necessary. Good luck.
