The system now prints the time you can get a new FP. It is not necessarily two hours later or after your return window opens. Whenever it says you can get another FP, get it. That way you begin counting down the time to that attraction while riding your first attraction.
Don't assume that if a FP return time is 3 hours away and the standby line only has a 45 minute wait that you are better off in standby. You may get on the ride faster, but you won't get to do more rides. While waiting for your FP return time go on a non-FP ride, eat lunch, shop, or wait in standby for the same ride so you can ride twice almost back-to-back.
Only one person in the party needs to get the FP's for the whole group. Just have that person grab everyone's admission ticket and take them to the FP machines. No need for everyone to run across the park or clog up the FP machines.
Holding two FP's at once takes a little planning and running around the park. But when the crowds are high you can save so much time. DW and I went over Christmas last year and were able to avoid many lines doing this.
