My stomach is bothering me and I know that flat soda might make it feel better.. Can't tolerate carbonation at all - gives me an instant migraine..

Anyone know how I can make this soda go flat quickly?:confused3
Thanks!

Try stirring it with a spoon for a bit and see if that helps to get rid of the bubbles.

When one of my kids have an upset stomach I use coke or ginger ale. To make it flat I just pour it from one cup to another over and over till there are no more bubbles. You can also add bit of water. Hope your tummy feels better soon.

Shake it up and let the carbonation out. Works every time. Hope you feel better soon. :goodvibes

Ginger Ale (especially Vernor's); stir it until the bubbles go away. Works like a charm! (Ginger is actually good for digestion problems; I cook with it quite a bit.)

Thanks all! Not sure what's gong on here.. Now all of a sudden I'm itchy all over too.. :confused3

Aside from the upset stomach and itching though, I feel fine.. Weird.. :confused3

Not that it helps you tonight but there is supposed to be something in Diet Pepsi that is also in Pepto that will soothe your stomach.

Flat cola/soda is always used in our family as a rehydrating drink when ill. We warm it in a saucepan which gets the bubbles out VERY quickly and also makes it comforting for the digestion. Don't boil it, just warm it up a while but NEVER do it in the microwave incase it spurts when you take it out. Once you've boiled it you could leave it to cool if you don't like the idea of it warm.
Hope you feel better soon.

O.K. this may sound odd but this really works.......stir the soda and then put your finger in it and "poof" the bubbles disappear! Of course, wash your hands first! :teeth: Even works without stirring the soda first!

My father actually PREFERS to drink soda with no carbonation, so I'm used to this. Shake up the bottle, though leave a little space for the gases to collect. Open the top slowly so the gases can escape, not the soda. Do this a couple of times until there is no more gases escaping, instant flat soda.

Years ago, when my DD was small and had an upset stomach, the doctor told me to do the same thing, pour the pop from one up to another until there were no more bubbles.

Hope you are feeling better now, C. Ann. :goodvibes

I'm back - and feeling much better today!! Thanks for all the great tips on making soda go flat.. :) Every now and then I would like to enjoy a glass (for some reason, I like orange soda when I have a hot dog), but as I said last night, for me, carbonation = immediate migraine!!

This is so neat! Maybe I can start enjoying soda again - or the flavored waters that are carbonated.. You folks are the best! :flower:

Hi C. Ann,

I think maybe it's unlikely you're still on this forum but I stumbled over your post and felt that I should ask. Are you aware of histamine intolerance?

It might be possible that you have histamine intolerance.

If you can drink alcohol, and have no problems the next day, this is probably not the case.

Alcohol causes the body to release histamine into the bloodstream, and damages an enzyme called DAO which is used to process histamine into harmless byproducts, so that makes it a double histamine whammy. Being histamine intolerant can cause a range of issues, including migraines, itchy skin, IBS like symptoms, constant nausea, headaches, dizziness and more.

If you're still around, maybe this information could help you in some way. I just signed up to send you this note, so it's possible that I never sign back in to check if you got this, but I thought maybe I could be of service.

Good vibrations,
