Alright, alright, I know I can't cheat on this (dh says put her hair in a high ponytail on top of her head and get her platform crocs...haha). Seriously, the child is 7 and a half and is 44 inches tall. :headache: I had the same issues when I was a child, always too short to do anything I wanted to do. However, I did tell her she has a great "out" if she feels a coaster or waterslide looks too scary "Sorry, can't do it, I'm too short". :thumbsup2 . Anyway, here's hoping for a growth spurt.

awww, I'll hope for a growth spurt for her, too. Although at 44" tall now, it's not looking likely, huh?

My kids are peanuts too...dd 9.5 is just now brushing 48" (she was measured at dance class last week). And my youngest couldn't ride Goofy's Barnstormer till she was 5!

We have found out how to be ok with one shorter kid along...I sit with them somewhere nice to wait for the rest of the family to ride, and we have a rootbeer float. YUMMY!

I know how you feel- our short DD was almost 9 before she could ride any of the attractions with a 48" limit. She tends to be a "ride chicken", though, so it wasn't hurting her feelings to have to wait. My advice is, I guess- just accuentate the positive- there are only a few things she can't do when shorter than 48" at WDW, and so many she can!!

My kids and I have/had the same problem -- always much shorter than everyone else (at 5'2", my middle school students love pointing out how much taller they are than me). Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about the height thing -- the only rides that DS couldn't ride last year because of the height restriction were Primeval Whirl and Rock n' Roller Coaster -- all the rest were 44" or under. I am a roller coaster whuss so I had no problem finding other things to do while DH and DD rode those two.

Stick her in dirt and water daily.

Just kidding.

I know it can be frustrating.. But there's only a short (no pun intended) list of attractions she can't ride.. most of which are at DisneyQuest or the waterparks.

MGM Studios Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith 48"

Animal Kingdom Primeval Whirl 48"

Magic Kingdom Tomorrowland Indy Speedway 52"

DisneyQuest Mighty Ducks Pinball Slam 48"
DisneyQuest Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlaster 51"
DisneyQuest Cyberspace Mountain 51"

Typhoon Lagoon Humunga Kowabunga 48"
Typhoon Lagoon Bay Slide 52"
Blizzard Beach Summit Plummet 48"
Blizzard Beach Downhill Double Dipper 48"

Well at least (barring the waterparks) there are only 2 rides (RnR and Primeval Whirl) are 48 inches, ant they are not the greatest rides anyway.

Blasphemy!

If Steven Tyler could hear you he'd be turning over in his tanning bed.

She could actually do the speedway...just not drive.

We have the same problem with our DD. She's almost 5 and with the right shoes she can get on things like Test Track and Soarin'. It's tough because her twin brother soars (no pun intended) over her...He's got a good 5 inches on her!

I'm five feet nothing and my mother didn't even make it to that (she was four feet eleven inches). We had to hear the "short jokes" all our lives. And that Randy Newman song didn't help.

Our reply to anyone who joked about our height was "good things come in small packages". Maybe your daughter can use that one from time to time.

Trying to cheat the height limits with high shoes and big hair are generally not good ideas. The attractions are normally designed with people of a certain height range in mind, and the lower center of gravity on smaller people could cause serious injury to them.

To joke about it is fine, but people DO try and get around the height. Is it really worth your child's life to let them go on Mission Space a year early?

news flash: you are not risking your childs life by trying to fudge an inch or two. if you are close, get out the shoes with heels, and get that hair up.

When we went in 2006, my youngest had just turned 4, but he was already over 44". He made it on EE and SM much to his happiness. My Husband and I both come from very tall families. I'm 5'11" and he is the runt of his family at 6'1". At the measuring stick outside SM, a girl who was obviously older that DS wasn't tall enough. She asked how old DS was and lost it when she heard he was only 4 and could ride. I felt so bad for her! My son was supposed to go back last year with my parents and his cousin, but they had to wait until this year for her to be tall enough to ride anything good. My brother married a very short girl! We have our fingers crossed that she will make the 44" before June and she turns 5 this April. good luck with the growth spurt!

I think that they can drive at Indy Speedway, just not by themselves. DS drove last year with DH in the passenger seat. DS was just 44" tall.

I know how you feel, because my 9yr old has always been very petite. Last year she was exactly 48", and I was still nervous about her going on RnRC because I was afraid she would flip out. Please don't try to make her appear taller, when she isn't, it isn't safe. I understand the frustration, but the ride will always be there for when she's taller. We've been doing Parent Swaps for 9 years now, and we still will for another couple years until my 4yr old is tall enough to ride the big rides. But it is for the their safety.

Take care and have fun on your trip!!!

And I'm sure that the parents of that kid who died on Mission Space figured it was just a few minor medical issues, nothing to worry about.

:rotfl2:

I know how you feel. DD6- almost 7- was 46" on our trip a few weeks ago. His sister was 50" and could ride everything, but he couldn't ride RNR (didn't try Primeval Whirl. He was upset b/c he loves roller coasters, but even 2 inches wasn't close enough. He stood as tall as he could in his sneakers, but no riding. 4 inches is a lot to grow in 7 months- ds knew last summer that he needed 2 inches and didn't grow any in 6 months. We had prepared him for it and he knew he wasn't going to get to ride, but we had him measured anyway. Once I saw how little DD8 looked on RNR- I was kinda glad he didn't. Then again, I know he would have loved it and dd8 certainly did- rode it 8 times! Oh well, don't know when we'll be going back to WDW- it will be several years I know- so we told him that we knew he'd be tall enough next time!:lmao:

er... the boy who died on M:S died of an undiagnosed heart issue. there were no signs of trauma. it had nothing to do with his age or height, for which i'm sure he was able to get on it the attraction legitimately. the subsequent lawsuit had to do with specifically disney's locations, availability and training of AED devices (which has also come up again since in the recent EE death). the safety of M:S was never called into question.

he could have just as easily died walking to school.

not that i'd personally take a 4 year old on M:S, but that's me.
