I'm running several 1/2 marathons this spring and summer, but want to start increasing my mileage for the fall when I run my first marathon. I'm kind of over the whole training schedule, and would really love to just go out and run when I want to run as far as I feel like running. What is a good base mileage to keep my training at during the spring and summer when I'm not necessarily in training mode, but more like maintaining mode? Also how high should I allow my weekend long runs to get before I officially start marathon training? I don't want to jump into the deep end too soon, because I definitely want to be healthy at the start line!

20-25 miles/week base and comfortable at a long run of 10 miles before you start marathon training is what i've been told from multiple top coaches across the board

my plan? i'm running a half at the end of the month where i'm just looking to enjoy since i just had a pr in the middle of feb...so my longest run will peak at 12 this week. i have a second one a the end of may that i'm looking to train harder for...so i think i'll peak at 14 miles if i'm feeling good. then i'll take june to run whatever i feel...probably a 6, 8, 10...maybe 12 we'll see...and then i'll jump into marathon training beginning in july, for a nov 6th marathon

this is all based on if i'm running healthy and strong of course.
